Ive done it for years.
No offence, but just because you fucked it up doesnt mean its not a valid way to seal cultures.

You messed up sterile technique which is okay and happens, but it wasnt the bag.

Also my advice was to bag uninnoculated plates so you arent wrapping twice. I dont think ive ever reccamended bagging recieving plates

Yeah idk sounds like you fucked up.

A properly wrapped plate isn’t gonna get contaminated from proximity anyway.. I literally finger fuck my plates with the grossest hands known to man on my lunch break often 😂 they get wiped down with iso before ever being opened and I don’t have a issue…

Just because a common practice didn’t work for you, you shouldn’t condemn it to others. Look inward and ask “why did this happen”.

I got the impression mine was actually putting off a noticeable amount of heat, but its also shut in a bedroom. Also could have been my imagination, but I was running it to clear condensation in plates and it sure seemed hotter in there. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe just the weather though.

I tried hot pouring for the first time and I think I poured it too thick on top bc the 3 that were thick haven't done shit in probably a couple weeks. I cut a wedge out of the top of one to "let it breathe" and I took a transfer off another one. I guess we'll see.

at first i thought you meant the ac and i was very confused. The ffu definitely heats up the room, but it also pulls the air from the other room that has the window unit :wink:

Only had it on for like an hour to help balance the temps. Equilibrium. I was sweatin the other night between a bunch of work in front of it with the torch on. Made me with i had a pedal powered bacticinerator, altho it might not help much

I must confess this hobby is turning me into such a nerd. I attempted grab and drag the first time this week. Went REALLLY light on the spores and didn’t see any germ and thought I fucked up.

Upon further investigation there is 1 lonely very thin small colony, so small I couldn’t get a picture and maintain aseptic environment.

I shrieked with joy like a little girl. I know my neighbors were like wtf 😂.

Washed my body with antibacterial soap twice and did the transfer booty butt naked with nothing but gloves and a face mask covered in 70% iso.
Gonna let it grow out and check for clamps. Phase 1 of my plan/project seems to be going great I’m so happy. Never thought a Petri dish would bring me this much joy 😂

Also if anyone’s wondering what to get me for 4th of July i wear size medium flow hood 🙄 SAB works but feels so ghetto 😂😭
