This homestead revert culture is something crazy...

A blob fruit in December, then a huge clone plin from said blob with a pe-ish looking cap in January...

Now it's doing something completely different...

Growing from the cap of the blob-clone plin is a long boy with a wizard's hat cap.

What even is this culture? It's like it has multiple personality disorder...

Pulled a light second flush of these purple white ones and got the next generation germed on agar. First time crossing anything so I'm interested to see how the next tub does

Yeah it’s a 1:3. More importantly I’m not going to baby it. It either works or I find genes that do. I’m not here to play games :mad2:

I'm almost to the point where gene selection matters to me. Up until now, I've been focused on just getting any kind of flush.

How would you go about this? Do you have multiple ms plates and will try a new one? Will you pull spores off of the underperforming fruits and hope that better genetic combinations exist? Source new spores all together? Switch to a different variety?

Jack Frost hms 16qt finishing up.  Was really hoping for the signature blue gills but I’m not gonna wait around for em.  Gonna swab, clone and chop these tonight unless the swabs come up bare.  Shout out to JW123 for the genetics.  He takes a hellava clean swab.  Made things nice and easy!

I second that - My first ever prints I got from here were from JW123 - didn't realize how lucky I was at the time, those first two grows I did back in my nooby-ness I was able to go from germ plate directly to grain.

Don't know how he does it

What I’m doing is trying to get this variety to consistently produce a result from spore before distributing it again. It’s a process called stabilization. And yes, that’s pretty much what you do.

If I was working  with a stable variety, I would just go MS to clone until I found a clone that did what I wanted

Sorry to bug, but how exactly do you stabilize?

Do you have a bunch of T0/T1 plates and are just trying different ones until you find something you like?

Or is it possible to get better genetics if you pull spores from this specific tub? I don't think it's this option, but I'm not 100% sure
