No I actually hurt my hand real bad at work and wasn't able to do much so I tried the fork thing because I saw it work for some people because i had a thick layer of mycelium and it wasn't fruiting. Was just wondering if i should try the tek because I dont know enough to know if its salvagable.

I don't know what the fork thing is, if it involves stabbing your sub with a fork then that's not going to do anything.

Yes, follow this tek if you want results.  Also ditch the perlite chamber and make a water tub instead.

Forking your grow does not help it fruit. Would scraping a fork across your skin help you heal?

Where did you see this? And why did you do it?

To be honest I don't remember and I thought it was on here but it might of been a old post with outdated info. It was the best I could do at the time unfortunately. But hey lesson learned I guess. Funny you say that because my hand had stitches and was wrapped up like a baseball mitt and it sucked haha Im a lineman and got cut real bad. But hey shit happens ya know

Just lightly scrapping it but I know now that was a bad move. Sorry if I sounded ignorant but it was worth a shot in my situation. But im good now and my coco coir came in that i ordered so ill give it a shot. Thx for the feedback bud! My only question is about the water tub, im guessing that be for future situations? What's the advantage over perlite? New to this and trying to learn from you knowledgeable folks

Iirc, fork tek is an echo of the past. I only stab my sub with a fork in the bedroom on our anniversary :awesomenod:

You can use a water tub if you'd like. Once you roll it in coir, just elevate it above the water level and have it placed on an appropriately sized lid or something as a base, something similar in size to the cake/egg.

Hope your hand is getting back on track and u have full mobility and function

If you're gonna fork around that's probably the best way to do it.

Can someone tell me if this is normal? Very new at this. It's a B+ fruiting bag that I ordered. Their instructions never have you cut it open to fruit as it has a patch. However, it wasn't doing anything so I cut it open and put it in a humidity controlled monotub 22 days ago. It's looked a lot like this for the past 2 weeks, but no pins.  RH=87-90% Temp=67f (can't raise rh more due to condensation, would need a space heater to raise temp).  Any ideas?  Or is this all normal?

So I started reading a bit on the forums and got the itch to try it out. Decided an AiO sounded good, even found recommendations for best AiO bags and ordered the bags. Then I see this post. I haven’t inoculated yet. Would it be better to just use the AiOs as spawn bags and then break them up and continue with a monotub?

Yes. Do a tub instead. Those bags aren’t going to give enough FAE by a long shot. Around here they are referred to as “choke bags”.

edit : as stated below and elsewhere,  PF tek is absolutely better than using the bag at all.

I disagree, I would not use one as spawn at all.  It’s already spawn and substrate in one and breaking it up to spawn a tub is inviting trouble.

As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t even inoculate it.  I’d cut my losses and save the syringe for something far more sure like pf tek.

If you are going to inoculate the bag, just follow the fruiting instructions at the start of this thread.  It’s hard to beat a water tub.

Should I spawn in pastywhyte Monotub or do this method ? Pretty sure I got contam it’s stalled and hella creamy. I’m not sure if I should wait for full colonization it’s been a month and a half but I also don’t know if its ok to spawn without full colonization.
Edit:by the way the whole rest of the bag is white it’s only that one little side that isn’t colonized

?

that looks like just a grain bag.  ya its pretty bad.  go ahead and get rid of yhe slimby bits with a dish sprayer and spawn it.  i probably woudnt fruit it whole.

others might have differing opinions but i think a few shrooms is still possible.

So do you think I should wait for that last like 10% to colonize or should I just say fuck it ? It’s stalled right now for a couple days

it wont colonize.  its all bacteria.  just get rid of as much of it as you can.  once you get a lot of air flowing the myc should take off and the bac will be stunted

Okay thanks so much I’m gonna spawn tomorrow morning or tonight. I’ll start by removing the uncolonized grain and rinsing off the slimy outer layer. Sounds good?
