Hey all,

Coming full circle on a rescue that I started on Page 25 of this thread.

I had 2 cakes from all-in-one bags.  One of them came to fruition, the other did not (although it had hella pins shortly after the coco coir treatment).

Removed the cakes from their bags and put them in tubs on 10 May.
Gave the cakes the coco coir treatment on 12 May.
Harvested today, 3 June, 22 days after the coco coir.

I am super stoked to get some Hillbilly out of our 1st attempts at growing mushrooms!  Thank you all for the guidance and support and of course big props to Beef Supreme for EVERYTHING.

With gratitude, and some pics from this rescue!

Hi All,

After 5 days of colonized and no pins, I looked at Death to "fruiting conditions" and "Proper Surface Moisture" threads semi religiously and started misting maybe twice a day till gentle droplet sparkle and then I saw pins yay! That was about 2-3 days ago.

However I noticed my droplets go away in ~1-2 hours when I started trying to spray based on droplets going away. I'm from dry/hot place, and I have the AC on frequently which doesn't help.

My tub is from an all in one company that I bought from before finding the forum. Coir sub I did with 4.25x. I plugged up two of the four 2 inch holes to try to decrease FAE but it's still going within 2 hours. Both photos are about 2 hours after the last mist sesh.

I don't want to suffocate my tub or drown it, any thoughts on a happy in between?

could be genetic, alot of folks think that surface evap is a fruting trigger. I think its be better described as "rainfall scenario simulation", but I'm not a big words guy. the best time to find mushrooms is after a big rain where the ground is soaked and then rapidly transpires when the clouds break and the air is still cool. that reasoning is my basic approach to fruiting tubs but I don't know shit that's just my 2 cents

I think it's evaporation and increased airflow on top substrate that tells mushrooms hey u not drowning n it's getting good uptop

Just keep on misting it - if the water goes away in 2 hours, mist every two hours or so to try to keep some sparkle on the surface.  I have noticed that some subs - particularly if they’re on the dry side hit a point where it’s almost impossible to get and keep moisture on the surface. Just do the best you can - you’ll for sure get fruits off of that in a few days to a week.

Could also slap some tape over all the large air holes - but leave ‘em a bit open, like the area/diameter of a soda straw or slightly smaller

Thanks for the input everyone!

I like the idea of partially taping it over to limit flow without stopping it

Pretty sure this one is bacterial cause of all the water. Should i get it out and rub coir on it and all that stuff mr beef said or should I wait and see if it colonises more?

I dunno - looks pretty ok to me, but is that just condensation on the inside of the bag or is it like half filled with water? Hard for me to tell from the pic. Also, please edit your pic to obscure the vendor name on your photo.

If it’s just condensation on the inside of the bag, I’d let it ride for another week or so and then check back with an update pic.

I’d go ahead and case it with coir already looks ready to go to me.

I see uncolonized wet/soaked grains pressed against the bag potential contam?

Yeah it’s definitely probably bacterial but what can you do about it ya know? Best bet is to do beefs tek take that bitch out and case it imo

Hmmm conflicting responses dang, yeah its just condensation. Tiny bit of what might be myc piss that i just noticed on the bottom. Its quite dry at the top though. Im not sure what to do, if its bacterial sending it now probably makes the most sense but if its fine i should leave it. I might follow the advice of leaving it for a week or so and taking a follow up pic. Thanks everyone ♥️

I'm happy to say I have some almost fully grown mushrooms! Given that they're maturing at different rates, I'm planning to pick some soon and keep misting until this flush is done. I have seen online that this strain doesn't drop spores so I might not have to be punctual about it.

Additionally, I used some ideas/thoughts from set-ups like the EZ dialed tubs on my shoe boxes and a second monotub by placing them within a 66qt box and using tape/filter stickers as a way to increase/decrease FAE. this seems to be working quite well for me on my second tub which started pinning really rapidly and hasn't needed any misting.

This community has really helped me from wasting time, thank you all!
