Awesome. I'm glad you're posting pics.

Those are wheels. I like the container, I just wish I could find one around town rather than pay DB $25 for one.

Hey man the more pics the better! That is my favorite part about the DB kit: It's on wheels. So If your going on a long road trip and you have no one to take care of your mushrooms and no space in the car just tie a rope to the DB and a rope to the back of your car. Man can those things go! I think I'll make mine rims tonight.
But my wheels don't really spin the db just kind of slides on them. Do you alls spin good?
Just imagine those little kids pulling the toy duck w/ wheels but instead a nice DB kit.

I'm guessing that the wheels are to keep from losing/gaining heat through thermal conduction.

yep yep. i have one as well, and the holes are around the outside rim of the lid. they are placed here so you can stack them on on top of another and it still doesnt affect airflow. thats one of the coolest parts about them, well besides the over foot long shrooms ;)

Here's a close up of the holes in the lid. Man! If I don't get the lighting just right I get pictures like this one.
It's Ecuador strain from 3M. And sure , he didn't need to use 8 half pints but he was in a hurry. he just can't wait to see some monsters. Dying to know if the kit is all its hyped up to be. He'll be doing everything according to instructions. No fanning, misting, poking and proding. It's just gonna sit there. The room temp will fluctuate between 72 and 80.

Here's an update. Its been about 42 hrs. The picture doesn't begin to show how mad the growth is. Crazy rhizo growth. I love the little mycelium porcupines on the surface (cant see them in the pic though)

Its day 6 and the compost is nearing 100%. You can see a dime size piece of compost uncolonized.

Here's a view of one side. The other 3 sides are completely colonized but this side has an area left . I am speculating that he did not mix the spawn well enough. Oh well. No biggie. He'll initiate the light cycle in 1-2 days.

That last little area on the side is not colonizing. Its now about 9 days since he crumbled the cakes. Of course he's worried now. The mycelium ran so fast in the beginning and now its just stopped. He started the light cycle today regardless. Why would the mycelium just stop colonizing the compost . There still is plenty of moisture and there is no visible signs of trouble. So far this kit does not perform according to its instructions. 5-8 days for the rye to colonize.Yeah right, try 20 or more days if they don't contaminate first. 5-8 days for the compost to colonize. I don't think so. His has stalled and if he sits there and waits it'll probably be another week or more at this rate. All he knows is this thing better fruit or He'll be back here telling everyone not to waste their money
