It’s sort of a problem I’ve been dealing with. I attribute it to my lids being old and warped from tub stacking.  After this tub is when I started trying to fix it with some light misting around the edges in the top layer before the myc colonizes it.. we’ll see how that goes.

It doesn’t seem to affect weight all that much as the fruits tend to grow bigger but picture-wise, full coverage always makes for a better pic lol

Like an explosion. Really cool, except probably a pain to harvest. Good problem to have though, I’d say.

nice work, @Hooded! I’m McLovin your flow box - I have one that is very similar and it has worked very well for my needs!

It is not a good thing and is inferior to a simple still air box.  It is incapable of achieving laminar flow and completely defeats the point.

Just make a still air box and it will be far more effective than this reddit/facebook lie y'all insist on.

 If I happen to build something described as an airplane and I can reliably and repeatedly fly it to the places where I want to go without problems, then I’m a happy human, full stop.  If someone else comes along at some point and says “pshaw, that’s not a real airplane! it will never work!”, I simply say, “OK”  and walk on.

For my own purposes and needs, it works great for me. I’m a happy human & that’s enough for me. “Trust, let go, be open” is good advice for more than just tripping.  It’s all good, P. :peace:

You know what?  Good for you.  If you like using a piece of equipment that costs 10-20X what a far more effective SAB does then go for it.  Get some uncle Ben's rice while you're at it and inoculate it directly with spores.  It's still likely to produce some shrooms, so it's just as good as agar>grain>coir, right?  I mean, that is EXACTLY what you are alluding here.

Listen, if "good enough because make shroom" is your mode of cultivation then there is a perfect place for you called reddit.  Here at the shroomery we are about actual clean work and proven methods.  You're going to get called on it if you support that godawful gordo shit.

Now, please actually read this.  Stipe put some time into it to thoroughly explain why that box is a bad thing and a SAB is superior in cleanliness and workspace availability.

It's an airplane, you won't convince me otherwise because it works.

I mean I could get a little tyke plastic boat sand pit, fill the bottom voids with foam, epoxy a fiberglass bottom to it, mount a battery tray, affix a plastic running board, attach a minn-kota, put on a captain's hat and white shorts, and call it a salmon fishing boat.  Will it float and let me catch fish (and probably a buzz)?  Hell yes.  Is it a salmon troller or in any way seaworthy?  Fuck no.

People just want to believe they didn't waste money and/or make a mistake.

Someone posts a million charts demonstrating how much worse something is and they will still debate about how it doesnt matter in their anecdotal experience it's still adequate for their needs because they've grown for three whole cycles and only had one tub contam and only 2 out of 20 plates.

This is actually a great example of the "shroom-inspired" closed eyes visuals I sometimes get when tripping.

It's like they burst forth and blossom out from a central point in a continuous flow, like water from a geyser.

I 've also had friends report seeing similar things without me ever mentioning it to them. I don't think it's a coincidence :tinfoil:

I had problems with this too, the lower tubs bend a little and then all the condensation drips into the same spot.

Getting in on this aged semperviva spawn thing.

Colonized about 5 months right now, broke a chunk off last night.
