Lighting

you can use tube fluorescent lights for multiple tubs. There's far more than one correct way to arrive at great results.

I have long since abandoned using the one light per tub and now use shop lights for multiple tubs. Lighting from the side and top doesn't matter. I strongly suggest using florescent lights rather than LED lights. Florescent tubes are actually MORE EFFICIENT in watts per lumen as well they also put out a more full spectrum of light than almost all LED lighting even if both are listed as 6500K.

Florescent T8 4 foot long tubes work well
The Spectralux 901616 4 ft. - 32 Watt - T8 - 6500K - 2900 Lumens - High Output bulb works well in a appropriate fixture. You don't need the exact same lighting setup as me. Mushrooms don't photosynthesis but like humans act funny if kept completely devoid of light. Yes they will grow in complete darkness but they will look fucking stupid and no be nearly as presentable. Mushrooms do derive a noticeable positive benefit from adequate lighting.

I'm still stuggling with trich, even though I soaked coir in a large cooler 5 kilo brick in 24 liters of water. it was still 120 degrees after 24 hours. That being said the trich must be coming from the room, or the fact that I cooked in the room and it got above 80 during colonization, could it be the spawn? (I've seen this suggested on here) seems like it would bloom earlier if so, and be visible inside the jar.

I Am following the oat tek for spawn.

Do you have an opinion about chloramine in the water, I'm worried about tap having contams and had been using RO water with Chloramine prefilter. But I can't tell if it makes a difference

Is there a possibility that the still air inside the box is causing the trich when combined with the too high temp + fluctuations and possible presence in the environment. Obviously it's possible to overcome...

Here is the first 32 quart bin so far, last night I finally had enough of the other jars colonized that I was able to do two more 12 quart shoeboxes. This is after three days. My first attempt ever and I'm aghast at how fast it colonized, but I'm sure this is nothing compared to some people's dialed-in tubs. Still I think this is healthy mycelium please feel free to humiliate me if not lol 😎
