Deeper sub depth is beneficial to an extent but other than that, it's just preference. If I'm gonna cultivate something that takes a long time to colonize and flush I'd go with a deeper sub to prevent it from drying out too fast. If I'm running a fast culture, I'll just baby sit it and mist as needed.

In my opinion it’s looking good man! Checkout my threads, my sub looked like yours a few days before I noticed baby pins... I’m currently 15 days in, noticed my first pins maybe on the 10th day in. Though I think your tub looks extremely humid and you might get lots of side pins... maybe

Why would he get side pins from the tub being humid?

Am noob, so I should’ve clarified but just from my experience that I’m currently witnessing with my own grow. Extremely humid tub = lots of water on walls that roll down to the sides of the sub. Without a liner this will create a good climate for side pins, as I’m currently experiencing:-)
water droplets rolled down from my tub building up heavy condensation

Damn that’s a lot of side pins.
Humid is good you just gotta stay on top of the surface conditions.

Absolutely, my tubs are super humid; I have a full canopy going rn along with 100s of side pins lol my tub looks insane right now. If I would’ve put a liner I definitely wouldn’t be dealing with so many side pins!

Did you tamper down the edges? or did you just spawn with the sub loosely?

So wait. If I have BRF cakes. I just break them up into cooked coir and put em in the tub and they’ll grow into pins and harvestable while doing literally nothing else?!?!

Yes cakes are way harder and more work than bulk.
Check out one of the many shoebox threads. Imo that should be the starting point for new growers.

How is the FAE adequate with this setup, fuzzy feet would indicate otherwise

I believe the concensus is that it is more likely to be too much moisture in the sub than not enough FAE and that there is no way unmodified shoeboxes or tubs (if they have similar lids to this, Bod clearly states he only vouches for what he has used himself) do not allow adequate FAE.
One of my unmodified shoeboxes has produced fuzzy feet and skinny stems but I plan to focus on the substrate prep and surface conditions before drilling holes in the box or fanning loads.
Countless people on here produce healthy canopies in unmodified tubs without fanning ever and don't get fuzz so it must be do-able. Obviously the environment you grow in can have an impact also though.

Yeah if the mushrooms looks healthy then it’s a genetic thing. That tub is a perfect example, nice big healthy caps/fruits but still a ton of fuzz.

Don't worry Blazer420- I got this. Hey Shroomoiseur! Liners are effective, but definitely not needed. They do help a little on latter flushes, but not to the extent that they're worth their time in my opinion (the substrate will contract, so those side pins have enough room to be just good old mushrooms by the 2nd flush). Here, from the first page of this thread from Bod himself "Using a liner is a crutch to help with side pinning, side pins can be avoided by proper surface conditions and a nice flat even level surface."
In his video too at the 4:00 mark he specifically mentions tamping the sides down just a bit. This helps take away the microclimate side pins thrive in. Careful though! Too much tamping and you'll create an environment for water to pool. It's really easy to dial in after a few tries. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24161727#24161727

Personally I started with liners to help with side pins and then kept going with them to avoid cleaning tubs and it’s nice to be able to lift the sub out easily.
I do a lot of shoeboxes though so all I have to do is grab a grocery bag from the stack and slap it in there.
