hey bod, im curious, is this still your favorite way to do monos?
i love this tek, no need for dedicated tubs, still one of the ones i recommend the most
but i really been loving pastys ez dial dubs for a while now, just because its so much more forgiving of bad room conditions without having to mist or anything
ofc if someone doesnt know how to dial in or compensate for bad room conditions it doesnt really matter

i really love this tek
if you know how to dial in a room it doesnt get much better, so simple!

Another easy af grow - thanks bod.
No misting, no maintenance, no nonsense, I love this tek. I have my tub’s gaskets dialed in now where they need literally 0 interaction from me in between mixing the spawn with coco and then harvesting the first flush. I don’t even have them on a light cycle anymore - they’re fine with whatever indirect light they’re getting.
2 tubs harvested - 9 qts spawn (lost 1 to contam).

transferring the grow ok? [Re: soppos]

I didn't have a small enough tub, so we sectioned it off with tape to create a makeshift mini-tub. The substrate is colonized so I have the lid flipped and am waiting for the first pins.
I've since bought a smaller tub so was wondering if it would be ok for me to transfer this grow into the smaller tub (I need to free up the one it's currently in for my next grow). I'm new to this so really appreciate any guidance.
Thank you!

That´s going green mate, sorry.
I´d advice to start your own thread and explain your procedure from the start. You´ll be on track soon

interesting way to go <3
well wait until the mycelium has a grip on all materia in the "cake" and then move it to a smaller tub, IF you feel the need for it. You wrote it was fully colonized so if it DOESNT brake/crumble , it has potential to being moved to another tub.
Otherwise just leave it! (probably better)
and it has potential to dry out since the tub is so much bigger and the "cake" doesnt hold so much water so have an extra eye on it.
Just give it some time to do its thing, patience is everything and the occasional failure is where we learn

Hi Bod, and everybody else who contributes to this thread and any on this site. I have gained a wealth of knowledge stalking these pages the last few months. Gathering info and supplies. I have made a SAB, Agar plates… done transfers, g2g and everything has went really well. All due to this site but mainly to Bods Teks. So I thank you for that most sincerely. So, I am now well on my way with my first ever grow. Fitting that this is also my first ever post here. I was gifted a quart jar of colonised popcorn which I g2g to another 6. This turned out great. I spawned 5 of them to a brick of coir on the 12th November, and today I decided that the lid should come off as there seems to be plenty of colonisation. Now, the problem is my inexperience as I havent grown before or havent even seen a grow in person. I dont have the eyes for it yet. I know there are plenty of pics on here… but its hard to decipher, as even between pic that people say are good or bad, Im still finding grey areas. I’d be very grateful for any feedback on these pics from today, the 19th November. The first one is without flash on and the second is with it on. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

The light brown/tan spots are the popcorn. Maybe thats obvious tho?

If you follow the tek, put the lid on mate. Due to your environment and wobbliness of the lid you need to figure out if the lid works better flipped over or regular on, but don´t latch it. It´s all about holding up humidity high in relation with providing as much air exchange as possible. You don´t change anything until harvest, it´s fully automated. The tek says "growing conditions" from the start, so set and forget. Just check for moisture content on the surface once or twice a day. Have a look here to compare the pics with yours. I´d suggest to use a top layer of coir next time

Thanks for your reply. Following the tek, the lid is on, off, perpendicular to the tub. I decided to put it perpendicular today as the condensation on the underside was dripping down to substrate and starting to cause pools. So thought it best to give it plenty of air. I was really just looking for someone with experienced eyes to let me know what they think of the pics I posted.

He wants to know if he should:
a) set up to growing conditions from the start (allowing fae)
or
b) let colonize the old fashioned style in darkness, wrapped in a trash bag (restricting fae)
As a) is always prior, the answer should be clear. Bad (hope you mean bacterial) spawn is for a shoebox or for the garden
