Because he needs to run the country, and the supremacy clause would dictate that his federal duties would trump his state sentence...pun intended.  After his term, he could serve out the rest of his sentence, but they would have to release him to do his job.

How is it not about serving real justice just because he's commited worse crimes than fraudulent payments and got away with it?

It's politically timed, because they could have done it years ago but only began 2.5 years into Biden's presidency. The prosecutors kept this as a card to use, that much is clear as for how this is political.

But that doesn't negate the fact that it's a valid case.

I just don't get the argument that because he got away with worse shit this is somehow unfair.

Prison isn't impossible but seems unlikely. So that part of it wouldn't seem fair. The sentencing may or may not be fair, but the verdict sure is.

It certainly won't make any Trump voter choose to vote for Biden, but it is very likely to make people who weren't going to vote cast a vote for Trump.

They're basically the same person.  Jesus said the wealthy should give away their possessions to the needy if they want to go to heaven.  Trump says he needs you to give him your possessions so that he can MAGA.

Jesus said don't judge people or you'll be judged by the same measure.  Trump says he's being persecuted by corrupt judges.

Jesus said to keep your mouth shut about the dust in someone else's eye until you pull the splinter from your own.  Trump says "OW! Fuck! You got the spray-tan in my eye!"
