Gasket sloppy

Psi measurer unit thingy starts at 10, ends at 25

Managed to kill the leaks with bricks, and figured if the steam is exiting the tumbler normally, its at 15 psi (blown)

Can you even replace those psi gauges?
And should you?



In other news, ran my very first petri dish and grain bags today after leaving my position in steroid rage 1 month ago (maybe)

I hope the transfers are clean, or a air purification unit (hepa), bigger sealer, smaller bags

Just moved the cake into a big water tub to give the rouges a bit more breathing room.

More Smelly vaders that went albino, from a pint jar of millet I put a plin in a while back. Spawned 1:4 12 days ago.

Yes and yes. While you are ordering those have them throw a gasket in as well, you'll be happier and have piece of mind you're not going to PC yourself.

Will making a corner cut and a corner seal be okay?

Like sealing "/" instead of "-"

Of course you can replace them and you should. You can buy any part to replace it. Why do you have leaks? You can also buy a new sealing ring. Or what do you mean with leaks? Leaking steam? Leaking water droplets while heating?

Update on the cut side of the cake I cut down, am I looking at myc or mold?



Also, the second tub is almost fully colonized but I'm seeing some yellow droplets along the edge as well. I have a feeling that this contam is from letting the condensation drip back onto the surface when I tip the lid open to look at it. Am I off-base on that assumption? This was mixed up on 10/22.

my gut feeling tells me your spawn might have been off, bacterial and/or improperly sterilized, unclean culture transplant, sab technique..
but i might certainly be wrong

@shakeology. The tub seems to be recovering fine from surgery so far. The yellow liquid is metabolites, usually a stress response to bacteria.

Your spawn was dirty. Either you didn't PC it properly, the culture you dropped into it wasn't clean or your sterile technique needs work. And probably a combination of more than one of those. The yellow is "myc piss" metabolites the mycelium is producing to combat bacteria, mold or both. As long as it doesn't grow mold you should be able to get some mushrooms. Give us a rundown of how you got to here(aside from the cake chop, we got that). What was your PC cycle, what did the culture look like, if you have pictures of the culture and grain that could help too.

Too soon to tell on the cut cake. That Yellowy looking line just below the sub surface gives me concern. Keep your eye on it.

Everything is looking good to me.


About the PC stuff, definitely replace the gasket once in a while. I ran the same one for over three years and just finally had to replace it cuz of a leak. Now it heats up and gets up to pressure like 3x faster. I guess it slowly degraded over time and got tiny leaks that just extended the process and I didn’t notice.

I think if you condition your gasket with mineral oil once in a while it will help it last longer. The heating and cooling will fatigue anything on earth so its a good idea just to change it once every blue moon.

Nah, idr what insta account it was, but they were advertising these monsters. Someone bought a few, expanded and then shared them. Others with it have gotten huge fruits lol, I've been on the mini train with them.

Not sure the spore situation, but I am thinking about trying to swab something and try again from there.
