The real neat part about Panellus stipticus is that the mycelium also glows. AFAIK Omphalotus nidiformis, the only other bioluminescent fungi I've seen sold, does not

I've heard I should wait until they can stand up on their own, is there any real reason for that or is that just old tek?

I think it increases potency or something.

Yeah you want to wait until they can stand up on their own and then… cold shock them or something.

Should I case them or just a top layer is fine at spawning?

You wanna let them fester a while in original casing then do a proper case with more nasty ass pants on top. Gotta get that good gym smell going.

Theory is that the plate is clean, so the pin(s) are clean. Big potential for reduced contams...maybe even reduced to zero for a clean start. Plus fruiting in a plate indicates that it's a strain that wants to fruit. :super:

Thanks, awesome. Makes sense. I’ve got a clone culture exploding with pins. Gonna grab the biggest one tomorrow.

What's more important to spend on?

Spores - $25 -$50 (should have got a bundle pack earlier )

All in One Bags - $20 - $35

Spawn Bags - $25

I currently have a $25 (w/ shipping) Spore Syringe (Golden Teachers) that I was going use with 3.5 LB bag of sterilized whole oats I got for $25

I just purchased a 4.5LB All in One bag that I'm excited to try that claims to use an exotic blend including Ostrich, Horse, Cow, Camel, & Buffalo field aged manure, and recently incorporating Worm Castings & Coffee into the blend.

Now I'm left with what spores to buy for the bag. Should I go with some more Golden Teachers from premiumSpores.com or get something with a higher price tag?

What spores do you recommend? Most likely from premiumspores.com

I'd save my money and invest in a pressure cooker.

You shouldn't put spore solution straight to grain but if you were going to one syringe would be enough to do 10+ bags.

You should start with agar if you are going to do grain.

Well I'd say it's to get a quick clean clone culture without the extra work of growing out then fruiting harvesting and trying to take a clean biopsy sample. Instead you are doing that all in a single plate WHILE keeping everything sterile(or aseptic or whatever the word is I know sterile isn't correct).

Couple spots are looking slightly yellow. No metabolites just yellow looking myc.

I vaguely remember in the past seeing this before molds sporulating.

In your opinion does this look like contamination?

If so I want to toss it in the garden before it sporulates. I almost always still get a good flush outdoors with my veggies.
