Distilled water is NOT sterile. If I were to experiment with that method I would use distilled water but it must still be sterilized. AFAIK when people make spore syringes they'll fill a syringe with distilled water, wrap it in foil, sterilize the whole thing, then shoot the sterile water onto the print, scrape the spores with the needle then suck the solution back up

Next time you should check out the water tub fruiting chamber. In my experience, it is much more effective at holding the correct humidity for cubensis cakes, especially if your SGFC is not packed full of cakes. This will eliminate or greatly reduce the amount of misting needed, which makes things much easier.

Good job though, those are some pretty mushrooms, and welcome to the Shroomery!

I have never tried printing onto agar, and I feel like it would make the resulting germ plate almost unmanageable, but it is cool. When I do first prints, I do keep them for myself. I kind of like cleaning up dirty prints on agar. It is good practice for working with field prints from outdoor finds. I reserve my “cleaner” prints for giveaways and such, as I often never know the recipients intent or agar skill level, and always want to send the best I can. Please do a giveaway. Giveaways are one of the most wholesome parts of this community, and I feel like the mushrooms want us to spread them far and wide. It is the Lord’s work. Keep up the good work Rotn!

For sure.. I've been trying to do frequent giveaways.. I figure, for what you spend on 1 order from a vendor, you can get a box of envelopes, a box of swabs, a roll of foil, and a roll of stamps.. it doesn't make sense not to do it

I'll have some kick ass giveaways coming up pretty soon... I've got jars of Phobos, Choco TAT, FP+, and Tidal Wave going right now. I've got a full roll of stamps, so hopefully I'll be able to send something other than GT and APE soon

I can’t remember his exact process, but  he is well know for having the cleanest prints and swabs around, despite his unconventional techniques. In my limited experience working with Faht’s samples, they may be the only spores I would ever consider taking straight to grain. Haha.  Well I appreciate the kind words. 

You don’t have to use the complicated oven bag set up.. I just do a lot of spores to grain (very small amounts of grain so the loss, if any, is also small) work and eliminating as many contamination vectors as possible is the goal there but lots of ppl do great with SAB’s.  Pf use to do the jar print set up when he sold his syringes so it’s nothing new but I guess my contribution to the idea would the use of magnets to scrape the spores into the sterile water.

Fresh or dry?  I can get tea down to half the weight of the fresh caps through boiling them in their own juice with 2% citric acid and pressing thoroughly after steeping.  Thinking about making agar gummies from that for mini-dosing rather than doing dried fruits.

Nat's 3rd flush this morning, ready (and slightly beyond ready - should've picked the big ones on the left yesterday, but lazy ):



Been taking clones from these more interesting phenos coming off my original mixed lineage on the left above.  My first try at getting wavy cap pheno from G1 of a print of one of the first desired caps is the tray on the left - none there at all.  I've got more of those to try though.

But this is kind of an interesting Nat color variant, gonna clone it:

You can cook teas down pretty far, just be sure to reduce the heat and stir, silicone spatula is your friend. I made a jar last night too, 42.8g pan cyan 'Alabama' and 1g bisporus. It is about a 1/4 pint and around 1/2 is honey.
