skinny albinos
    #1216350 -

Anyone ever get any fruits on bulk while incubating that look like skinny little albinos? Sometimes dude gets these bright white fruits, due to lack of light, that are no more then a 1/4 inch thick including the cap. The albino fruits grow really fast (3-5 inches in a day). A couple of the bulk containers (TAZ & CR) are almost completely colonized, but there are these mutant fruits. The bulk is at a 84 - 86F no light at all except for a couple minutes when dude checks on them. Dudes thought was that the amount of moisture in the bulk might be the cause of the skinny albino friuts. Wonder if they have any potency...

they should still be potent.
perhaps the lack of pigment is related to the lack of light.

When dude checks on them, is he allowing fresh air to enter their environment? If so, it may be enough fresh oxygen and light to give a kick to some early pins...

The containers are covered with saran with a few small holes poked through and it is usually for only a minute or two that they are exposed to light. They look like french fries  Even the cap is bright white. There is really no variation in size from the base of the fruit to the cap.

Seems that saran tends to collect alot of condensation, in turn making the the top of the bulk really wet. Same conditions and strain with foil do not have this problem.

here is a couple of pics

mutants!!!

Dude had this happen with a couple of different strains, both of which mutant fruits looked the same.

Horse dung and verm on both strains seems to be a winner for these little white monsters.

Well dude is still trying to figure out what to do with them so he hasn't really made any direct contact.

Here?s one that grabbed seed on the way up

This one shows a little perspective

Its like it stalled because of to much moisture and started producing these little fruits...they are kind of cool looking.

Well in your first post, I thought to myself... "Curley fries". When doing a spawn run in darkness, I have seen primordia form without the influence of light, and, thus creating non pigmented fruits.

This is what it looks like you have.

However, your second and third posts look like they have continued to grow, without pigmentation.

Either you are not giving them enough light, or have the wrong light on them. Its interesting to say the least.

Try putting 24 hour lights on them to see if they start heading for the sky and getting brown caps.

They are in complete darkness in dude's incubator. The spawn has not completely colonized the bulk yet so I think putting them into fruiting area might expose to problems bigger other then mutants.

I definitely think this is related to light. The pins that grow on the bottom of cakes do much of the same thing. Because of the lack of light they will stretch out out under like worms seeking light until they find it. I bet that is what is going on in your bulk there... I bet your almost ready to fruit... pretty wicked none the less...

Yeah but what got them to even start pinning? They are in complete darkness, 84 F, little to no air exchange and in the case of the last pics, half colonized.
