Got an Albino

Whats up with albino shrooms? I got a specimen here that has no carmel color whatsoever, and the stalk is just about see-thru. All the other shrooms are normal looking except this one. It has a really, really, really light carmel color on the cap, but mostly just transparent/white. The gills underneath are not greyish-blue, but more of a whitish carmel color. What is up with these albinos? I wish I had a camera, but I dont! Are they still active, and could I make a print?

You should most definatly clone it if you believe it is an albino. An albino strain is nice to have. Ive read, though not tested, that albinos can produce psilocybin/psilocin through maturing. If this is true and you continue to clone out an albino strain, you could potentually produce larger (due only to fully maturing), more potent fruits. You should really do some research on it. I hope i get to test this out my self someday.

Hmm.. I just did a search on it, but didnt find anything...I should look some more. I unfortuently was looking at it, and it came off the cake. I have all casings, and one cake...the cake produced 5 nice ones, and this one albino. No idea what to do with cloning...never even looked up on it ;(

Sounds funky!! The albinos you get from PF Classics and Treasure Coasts are sporeless - but you should clone it ASAP - imagine everyone's glee if someone managed to clone an albino that ended up somehow producing spores. Ive read a lot about the albinos, but the ones i am growing from the PF Classic genetic fuckup are oxidising before my very eyes without me touching them at all - so i find it hard to believe the hype about their 'super potency'. One's cap is nearly azure.

I dont see how just by being albino, it would have any more potency than a normal mushroom. I just think its a freak of nature, with no pigment. :/ who knows. Im pretty disgusted by it actually...I like the carmel colors that you get on cubs. This albino is ugly to say the least..heh. Really, I dont know how to clone. I have an idea that it does involve using petrie dishe and agar...whihc I dont have. You can still clone it even if its dried? LIke i said....i fucking knocked it off the cake when i picked it up to look at it, so now its just drying on some paper towels....... As for the bluing...it blue's no more than a normal cub..

Ah. Before the veil breaks it would be no more potent by than any other non albino. Theoretically, after the albino matures it does not sporulate (provided it is true albino) and continues to produce alkaloids, whereas a non albino will discontinue production.

Just talking from my experience regarding my albinos going blue early but still growing (not abhorting) Sorry i meant that i have read that since the theory goes that psilocybe mushrooms stop producing alkaloids when they start producing spores - some people suggest that because the albinos dont produce spores, they dont stop producing these alkaloids right through maturity

Hmm thats cool bluemeanie.. I wonder if thats true. Seems logical if it really gets more potent over time... Oh well, I already fucked it up like a dumbass Cloning involves agar, correct? You couldnt just drop a peice of shroom in a brf/verm jar and have it start growing mycelium , right? <--umm stupid question

You most certainly could. Id suggest taking a small sample from the inside of the stem, blending it into a fine pulp and then dipping this in h202. From there you need to be sterile, and id suggest trying to place it in a jar of sterile malt/water (similar to the honey tek) Should work for u.
