Never put it to grain. Still in the fridge. I got busy with other things. haha.

I'm going to do some pints, instead of quarts, to test some things soon, maybe I'll do a Z Strain.

I put it on some antibiotic agar bc I've been dealing with bacterial contam.

It looked like this on some BRF agar with gentamycin:





I xfered to some new (non antibiotic) BRF agar, I think this one was higher nute %:



Wasn't liking that clear growth so I tried it on some PDA and it looks like this so far:




Thoughts? Any of these plates looking ready for grain?



(Side-note): What's up with these warm pours I did? Is this even myc?




I would say the top one if I was in a hurry, only a slice from the outer part. Since it's on Antibiotic agar I would transfer to Non first. Shit can still ride along. The plate farther down on PDA may be good, hard to tell. The hot pour plates still have something riding along.

I've been struggling with these ESS swabs for a year now with nothing but bacteria.
I gave it a final stab and got my remaining swab to germinate with bacteria everywhere.
A small piece was transferred which is also bacterial but it has some clean mycelium, it's a good exercise but it's going to take a while.

OK, Wes377 showing Z inspired me. I pulled mine out of cold storage (from 6 months ago) and put to new agar, will put to grain if it performs well.

While I was doing that I also pulled some Alacabenzi and Orissa  T3 mycelium on agar from the fridge that never went to grain, and put to plates.

Also, I found a big food prep tub, like would be used to make salad in a cafeteria, at Salvation Army. It's about 3 inches high. I'm using it upside down as a stand in front of my flowhood, to get my work up into the sweet spot. Is shown in bottom photo:

First time with Agar please take it easy on me 🥴
Yes That tape is micropore tape and yes Somebody has let me know that’s a no no

Can somebody help me identify if that picture is of healthy mycelium
And also does keeping that contaminated plate around put me or the rest of the plates at risk

That looks like mold, it's important you focus your streaking to predefined zones so that you know if it's mold or not.
Streak a z or put your spores in the center, that way you can identify satellite contamination.

I need to go get some cookie cooling racks like those.  Restaurant supply stores usually have large sizes cheap.  I've been using close-spaced wire closet shelving, which works OK but I keep dropping my scalpel through it.

I made some no pour plates, and a drop of condensation dropped from the top of the lid onto the agar. Being that everything inside (including the condensation) is sterile, would it be okay to use my swab on this agar mixed with the condensation droplet? Or should I use a totally dry plate?

I'm thinking since MS syringes are spores mixed with sterile water, would it still be good and germinate if I used this one? Or just use a totally dry one?

Ya this Z mycelium is amazing it's making me really enjoy agar work.
  Really like the ropey look.
