Blob pins?

Seems so. Although I've cloned blobs on plates before and subsequently grew out normal looking mushrooms. Plates arent the best environment in which to predict the phenotype of mushrooms when grown under more optimal conditions.

Psilocybe subtropicalis plate pin. This plate was inoculated on 7/26. Glad to see my culture produces fruit as I have 3 tubs currently colonizing.

Sprouts had a huge bottle of the Now brand. Doubt I'll ever get through it.

I'm a fan of yeast.

A few months ago I thought that it made my cultures grow too thick but I was really inexperienced & still am lol.

Thanks for everyone helping along. Props to d3 and his great agar thread. Lowering my lme a tiny bit seems to be helping too.

I have this clone T-6 that I cant seem to clean up. Would anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance!

maybe it is clean? sometimes i get that similar thing at your 9oclock area. i wonder if it has to do with the way the transfers are taken like the edge side vs the inner side when you take a transfer and place it on the new plate.

Yeah, I don't think that's dirty at all. I see clear sectoring and I'm pretty sure the questionable spot is just a sector of tomentose mycelium. I would still take another transfer though, just so you get uniform growth.

For instance, this ain't dirty, and there's a big sector of tomentose growth at the bottom...

Thanks ora and lost key you both brought up good points.

That melmac plate is a beauty. I'd put that to grain!

For instance I'm more confident in this plate but still took transfers off of it just in case.

Taking too many transfers can be a rabbit hole lol. Something I'm keep reminding myself not to do [thanks AKA!] but I think everything is suspect lol.

I've tossed so many bacterial jars of grain it's embarrassing.

Thanks again!

I mean... he’s on T6.. I don’t think his issue would be solved with taking another transfer. He already said he can’t “clean it up.” Never know though...

Yeah man, I took several transfers from those thick ropes. Waiting for the T3 to grow out then it's on to test runs.

Wow another subtropicalis plate pin. It seems this species really favors the edges of the plate for fruiting compared with cubensis.

I had no hopes for this particular plate as I completely botched the transfer. Dropped the wedge on top of the plate lid, messily got it back on the scalpel with the help of a second scalpel, dropped it again but this time on the plate in an awkward spot, then accidentally touched the agar with my finger moving the wedge to the center. All of this while the music from Curb Your Enthusiasm played in my head. Kept it around just to see how contaminated it would be.

Keep hearing about this stuff... Now to figure out how much to put in. I'm thinking 1g per 500ml like yeast?

Anybody around here used it in their agar?

Seen it used but don’t know a lot about it. Sorghum syrup is another good one apparently. I may have to give both a try

I've used it before. 1 g / L is what I found to be usual.

I use the same brand but use soya peptone instead of bacteriological peptone. The amount varies depending on what I'm doing but 1g per 1000ml batch of agar as a supplement to LME is what I use for cubes. For pans I use 5g of it as a supplement to LME. I notice more consistent and rapid growth on my plates when using peptone.

I figure I'll mix up like 5 test plates and compare it to my true love in additives, nutritional yeast. It would be nice to get the same growth without the sediment.
