Conservatives
    #2742091 -

The more I read on this board, the more the liberal side goes unchallenged. And as Im not the smartest in politics, I find this disturbing. Where are all the conservitives? How can you keep posting in one direction unchallenged? Dosent that aggrivate you guys? Preaching to the choir???

Ive only made a few posts and I feel like im taking on this entire board like rambo, wheres the other opposition?

Don't worry, we're here, although most of us are libertarians and not social conservatives (i.e. people who want to tell other people how they should act in their own living rooms). What the fuck did you expect on a web site devoted to hallucinogenic mushrooms?????

I am reading this board. And conservitives dont tell you waht to do in your living rooms, its the OPPOSITE. Conservitives give you more freedoms then you would think, they believe in self success and small government.

I was wondering more how it could be so fun to bash one person, where one in 15 posts is against the trend. I would like to know what gratification people get from one sided arguments.

I also know that a site for psychedelic mushrooms would be like this, but still, I must ask the question because I dont understand how preaching to the choir unchallenged in very heated topics can be fun at all, Id like to know why.

The problems is, most self-described conservatives are staunchly anti-drug. This is a bulletin board related to drug culture. As someone else said, what the hell do you expect?

Nobody's mind has ever changed because of any argument here, at least not that I've ever seen. Does that mean people don't still want to discuss these things even though the majority already agrees? On the other hand, there actually are several right wingers who troll around these forums, you obviously just haven't been looking hard enough.

seriously.

try reading this one and this one for starters. these are even still on the first page, so i really haven't a clue what you're talking about. the only two 'liberal' biases i see on this board are against social conservatism and against bush because he is so socially-conservative and war-mongering. yet still, there are posters on this board who are going to vote for him. what ever happened to innvertigo?

Im reading the same boards you guys are. Tao, the Cosby thread is a good thread, it seemed to hit a nitch, as with the other one, but as I flip through threads Im starting to see this forum could fall apart to one side completly minus two or three people here. And I still dont see all the arguments going too much back and forth, just do a search on Bush and youll see what im seeing.

There are more liberals than conservatives here, but for a drug board, it's surprisingly balanced, at least in certain issues. Like zappa said, there aren't many social conservatives here, but there are fiscal conservatives. Some here would consider me conservative, while others would consider me liberal(it usually depends on the issue). I don't consider myself to be either, but as a libertarian, I'm usually grouped more into the conservative category.

are these the same conservatives who want to ban gay marriage, tell people what they can and cannot buy and sell, and tell people what they can and cannot put in their bodies?  Are these the same conservatives that talk a lot of bullshit about reducing spending, then proceed to increase the military budget every year, thereby filling the coffers of their military-industrialist buddies?

sounds like you need to learn the difference between 'say' and 'do' :smirk:

Are you looking for conservatives or Bush supporters? They are very rarely the same thing.

I believe a poll was done a month or so ago by Mushmaster(another Libertarian here) and at least half of those who answered professed to be Libertarian. I myself am one.

I think you're just experiencing the normal ebb and flow.

There are far more libbies here, but the conservatives kick their ass and we let them regroup from time to time.

...and where are these conservatives to be found? Certainly not in Washington or the state capitals.

What freedoms do you want? I want freedom from a government around me at all times. Gay marriage is a big issue, its up there with abortion. Its a fundamental difference that can be argued out and nothing will change on anybodies stance.

The left dosent like guns, I like guns. Why do I have to pay a tax for everything? I want to claim my dog as a dependant.

I want to hear this pinky guy now too

I don't really think those people really post here. I have surely never seen George W. post here anyway.

I probably disagree with you on abortion, but I say get government out of marriage alltogether. Marriage is a social and religious institution and it should not be a government one.

Re: Conservatives [Re: z@z.com]

my point is that political labels cant be taken at face value.

any politician can say whatever he wants to get elected. He doesnt have to do it.

It seems to me that a Republican nomination doesn't depend much on adherence to classic conservative values. I don't know what the Republican party is supposed to be anymore. I don't know whether it is a haven for capitalist anarchists or fascist religious zealots. Its seems to me that the leadership of the party doesn't care who calls themselves a Republican. Therefore, the label 'Republican' or 'conservative' has no meaning.

It doesnt matter what someone calls themselves. What matters is what they do while they are in office. There are a lot of so-called conservatives that never act like a conservative in their job, GWB being a classic example. If GWB is a Republican, then I dont know what a Republican is anymore.

It seems to me that a lot of bona fide conservatives have all this loyalty to the Republican party, even though that party no longer stands for what it used to. I dont understand how their bigotry could blind them to the fact that their own party has turned against them. They continue to vote for people like Bush simply because they claim the Republican affiliation, even if they never act like Republicans. I dont understand this.

GWD is more of an independant then a hardcore conservitive. He flies closer to the middle then most other conservitives.

Goverment dosent have to get in the way of marriage, its just a legal status with a financial status change =b.
