Reminds me of the growth I’d get on plates that had red#3 coloring

Interesting. I used the same amount of agar as usual for the recipe but slightly less nutes. 500ml water : 7g LME : 8g Agar.

The dye also has E122, which is red#3 right D3monic? First time I've seen it do this, maybe it's made my other plates a bit less aesthetic though.

Long as it's nothing funky all good though. I'll take another transfer just for peace of mind then get it onto some grain. Maybe order some new dye.

Big day tuesday! I've got 11 agar plates active right now, 3 clones from my malabar grow, 3 transfers from melmac germ plates (thanks Qirk!), and 6 germ plates with spores from Roar!

The melmac transfers:

The malabar clones (rather bacterial I know, but one I can transfer away and the other looks clean so it's a success in my book!):

All the plates together:

Looking good man! Yeah I had problems with bacterial clone plates too. You finding that there growing a little bit slower due to the bacteria?

Right now two of them have bacteria, one of them was a failure clone from the beginning (the top one) and my only hope is that it manages to climb out of the bacterial mess the tiny amount of myc is sitting in (no big hope there.) The middle plate looks clean enough, so I'm happy there. The bottom plate has a blotch to one side, so I'm confident that I'll be able to take an xfer from the clean side and be ok. This was my first time battling with clones, so the entire thing was just for experience. The fruits I began with were no beauties, they had massive splits, so that's part of where my trouble was, but I also had issues getting the tissue separated which is where a lot of the contam probably came from as the plates remained open and I stirred up the box.

I don't know exactly how fast they're growing, this is my first time taking clones, they were pretty banged up. It's also only been 2 days so I think they still might be recovering.

Hey all! So I’ve been making plates from fruit bodies for the last few months and that’s all great.  Really awesome using agar as opposed to MS syringes.  I just made these Cambodian plates with a print and I don’t know what sectors to try and isolate.  Does anyone have any good suggestions in regards to where to take from on this plate? Thanks in advance for your time.

Did you spread on that plate or just have one inoculation site? That looks thin and disorganized Otherwise... 12, 2, or 6 maybe?

when I made the plate there was like 20 spots where the spores landed. it was my first go with the print to agar so I figured I would just go for it. im sure thats why it looks so unorganized. next time ill only use a speck. so with that explaining the randomness and unorganized patterns, ill take your advice and go with the locations you suggested. have a great weekend.

nor have i...thats only because I usually just go syringe to bag or jar...and lately fruit to plate. like this..
this one went a little long but you get the point. I knew to grab from up top, I just don't know what to get after when using a print and used too much of said print.

I didn’t invent it so I couldn’t stake claim to it. Not sure who my predecessor was but got the starting idea from somebody.

I saw you've evolved to a metal straw or something now, I was wondering about how long it takes to cool a punch. I'll try it soon

It’s a custom made tool with brass tubing and an acrylic handle.

I’m in the process of trying to Aquire another but the gentleman that made it shop isn’t heated so will be a few months before that happens. Wanted to use it in a contest/giveaway
