Again, you seem to be missing my point.

Hopefully, others will comprehend the potential benefits of growing otherwise discarded agar transfers.

Based upon my results thus far, we'll have to agree to disagree on my tek.

You're content with discarding transferred agar pucks.  I'm not.  I don't want to waste any of these gifts that we have been given.

Thanks for your input,

Tom

That’s what I’m saying.

You’re missing our point.

If you’re gonna use the myc might as well throw it on grain. I totally understand wanting to use it instead of throw it out but it’s just going to be a sub par tub that could’ve been made with spawn.

If it was just leaving the plate until it pinned then it would make more sense but once you start making brf mix you’re really just making an all in one tub.

If you see throwing myc out as a waste you’re gonna end up going some weird places with cult. I mean I usually have a spoonful of colonized grain stuck to the bottom of my jars when I spawn, why not make a grow with that too then.

I respect where your heart is Tom. I think we should always be thinking about ways to eliminate waste, but I don't see this being practical. I believe most people use boiling water to hydrate their coir, which for me takes HOURS to cool.. In which time I could have made a round of jars.

Mix all of the plates up into a big jar of grain and see if any cool crosses take place.

Is it a PE or AA+ type? What % of sugar is your agar?

Amazonian, mix is 2% agar with grain soak water.

Yes, as I stated in my original post, I boiled my coir, as usual.

I'm not suggesting that what I choose to do with agar that I would normally throw away is practical.  This isn't an issue of practicality. It's all about trying to get something from what would otherwise be nothing.

I have plenty of colonized plates and slants and fruits in progress.  I don't need any more work.

I simply love the potential of yielding additional fruit from "garbage." It requires no additional cost.  Any fruit that emerges is bonus icing on the gravy!

What is going on with this plate? The rhizo like hairs are kinda growing up away from the plate is this due to high notes? Used GSA full strength for my agar. Never seen growth like this, it's 2nd transfer from a clone.

Would appreciate some experienced eyes on this plate. It grew out from the transfer all nice, bit uneven but nice rhizo growth. Now a clear new section of growth has emerged, not sure if it's decided to switch to tomentose or its some moldy ass mold?

Looks like it decided to go into the agar.

I hate when cultures do stuff like that, tends to happen on softer plates. It makes it much harder to tell what’s going on but I’ve put some to grain and gotten mushrooms.

I saw a lot of that when I was messing with super soft plates that liquidate when you shake the grain, it was a good learning experience.
