Holy shit guys, all of a sudden my wife seems normal.. Granted, I'm paying for her Doctorates program and if we ever split she'll get my house, one of my trucks and half my business...how the hell did I ever give her so much leverage?? lol fuuuuuck! At least she finds mushrooms to be repulsive so she wouldn't ever touch any of my cultures :shrug:

I've had that happen with the same transfer.



Both of these came from the same cloned fruit on the first plate. The rhizomorphic one performed far better than the other, and as you can see it grew quicker as well.

When you guys switch agar types do you find mycelium characteristics change? I've got some TOC and TWC going right now and they were super rhizomorphic on MEYA but now that I've transferred them to a MEA they have gotten all fluffy. Any idea about what's going on? The MEA is also 10g agar to 500ml water vs 8.5g agar in the MEYA.

I find they go rhizomorphic when agar is softer.

The standard 10gr agar and 10 gr LME, I don't like soft agar because it's a pain in the balls to lift off the plate intact.  I poured about 50 plates with soft agar recently and I'm regretting it.

For clarity, those plates were poured with a soft agar recipe, don't remember off the top of my head what it was.

Standard is 10g LME, 10g Agar and 500ml water typically.

Hi,

When you have a master slant with wood that you've stored for a long time, and you want to grow from it, do you just stick the wood in agar? Or take little pieces of the agar with a needle? Or something else?

Unrelated question about this forum software: how do I add a thread to "My threads"? Some seem to get added automatically, but I can't figure out how to add this thread.

Start with a lil piece of agar. If that doesn't take try the wood.
