Just wondering in Victoria what the best time is for starting to grow. Was planning to start my first agar journey on the 21st of septemer, but I'm worred that still might be too early, and therefore too cold for optimal growth. Anyone wanna weigh in?

bunnings temp control power plug

control temp 22-28c in cupboard or small room etc

you could never do it in vic without help fucking crazy natural temp range there. 10c 17c 22c 12c 15c 24c for most of the year.

Hey great to find a current thread and f#%k finding supplies here is hard and $$. (I'm reasonably far from a city)

I'm new, got some BRF jars and agar on the go, hoping to transfer some fresh clones to agar today.

Iv been using a mix of op shop jars and Kmart right now, and Iv drilled holes in the lids but its especially obvious on the kmart jars the holes are rusting. Has everyone got this? Have I done something wrong.

Iv now just started micropore taping everything coz when I started I wasn't as aware of the sterile needs. However my first brf jars are fuzzy and white, totally expecting them to be contaminated but its all a learning curve.

Iv also got way too much condensation in my agar jars, and can't see into them too well but last night i was convinced they were all contam. One had orange fluff around everywhere I touched,,, spent hours searching on here and found its prollly just the colour of my agar and sure enough this morning i checked and it's turned white.

everything has been slow growing, its pretty cold here and I'v been debating getting some kind of heat mat but im cheap. Now iv been drying some and put my agar next to the low heat fan and it's speeding things up.

now for something actually useful, iv seen ALdi have jars this week (i think wednesday) they look good, 6 for $5 or something and wide mouthed glass. Will buy and update the group, not sure if its regional or national specific.

thinking about ordering a heap of petris too just to have a better visual, im pretty into it and trying not to get ahead of myself.

I see mentioned that subs dont grow well indoors, iv collected all my spores from outdoors so im not 100% certain the type (eek, strain/variety?) im not wondering if thats what i have and will i just never be able to grow them? Im not looking for huge yields, im enjoying the process and ill continue on anyways, but still looking to learn and plan ahead.

Bro I just tried the same thing with sub's. Its a total waste of time. Seems like the only thing that works well is a outdoor bed. They will grow and colonize and make you think its all good but never fruit...... :frown:

I was wondering if anyone has suggested local distributors for flow hoods?

Only place I found online was Aussie Mushroom Supplies, but the guy was very flaky. They don't list shipping price and ask you to email for a quote. I emailed him and he asked me what size I needed then stopped responding when I asked for a quote on two sizes I was comparing to decide between. Very bizarre and I would have moved on to other sellers but just can't find anyone else.

Happy to try my hand at making my own too but can't seem to find sellers of the HEPA filters or blowers locally either.

Based in Sydney but happy to buy fr anywhere if shipping is reasonable really.

Grew out a random shroom I got at a party, Have no idea wtf it is!

6 weeks fully colonized at 24c perfect all day and 12/12 light. Just sitting there looking pretty :frown:

CVG substrate perfect field capacity.

I'm not sure if anyone could tell you the difference quite frankly. I guess you'll find out soon enough by whether or not they fruit.

Was a fkn long and hard mission. The gods shined on me and I had one agar plate out of 15 that didn't get contams from my original cardboard tek that I grew out to jars then Mono's over 4 months. And nooooowwwww I think it was a p.sub's and I'm fucked :frown: :frown: :frown:

How long is to long for not fruiting if it was cubes?

Its at week 5 should I give up at week 6-7?

Cubes start pinning 2-3 weeks after spawning

burry it outside, if it doesn't fruit this coming summer then they are subs

Yeah if they haven’t fruited yet the are probably subs. But again you won’t know until they do. Great job on getting some grown from them.

Hey all,

For those that use RTV silicon to adhere to tubs and jars, I have found the Permatex to be overpriced for it's size.

If you are looking for some, I would strongly suggest:

These are both RTV Silicones that are designed for high temperature ranges.

In terms of a pressure cooker, I would suggest ordering the Presto 23q off of Amazon as it is only around $165 shipped on there. Stock fluctuates in and out, but new stock is added daily. Please note it is being sent from the USA.
