It should be fine and you'll see it leap off onto the grains in 1-3 days if it's fairly healthy myc.
Some people shake the jars like it's a red headed step child after wedge drops. I just drop the wedge in then turn the jar upside down end over end then when on it's side I jiggle the wedge to the center then flip right side up.

I only shake on a wedge drop if using Caps SAGAR method that uses a far less stiff agar mix than what is commonly used.
Other than that I have seen jars take off faster not shaking at .000001% :justdontknow:

Nice!

It’s normal for the wedges to look bare, they’ll fuzz up again in a day or two.

tannin's pretty cheap. I think I'm going to pick some up and follow suit. I've also wanted to try black tea as an antibiotic. might run side by sides when I have a reliable specimen.

Coir should be non nutritious to were nothing should really grow off it as is. Although some coir has been really dirty as of last year. seeds sprouting, smelling of black mold after sitting for a week. It made me change brands recently after the huge contams I've had last year and tighting up my agar eyes.

If your myc is clean and healthy even dirty coir shouldn't have much of a impact on it.

Like one TC says, "I don't care what you think, all that matters is clean spawn".

It's grain prep and clean cultures that make or break the bank when you put em to a non nutritious substrate like coir.

But yeah, it may be able to be applied to nutritious substrates or shitty coir.
I honestly don't have confidence in it from that approach because once trich germinates in your sub it will parasitically leach nutrients from your cube myc as it takes over leaving you with the faint smell of spearmint and tears from the green. :gumby:

I may start a thread on it so people who do give it a run can leave results and data there. Gonna be spending allot of time at home soon anyways.  :icecreamsadness:

Doesn’t chilli have a certain amount of anti bacterial properties?

Why are you boiling anything? Just mix everything up in the bottle and PC

I hope so man... this has been months in the making of learning and applying... I hope it didn't go down the drain, I'm praying everything was successful.

So first sign is that the agar piece itself will start to fuzz up itself and colonize again before the grain?

Yeah man you’re good, the myc that falls off will probably just give you more innoc points. Give it about 3 days you’ll see it start to fluff up again and a couple more you’ll see it start to get a taste for the grain...patience bro

I use lme and I’ll get all kinds of weird sediment and stringy looking things in the agar if I don’t microwave boil it first.

Damn that's bright! I dig it  I usually use 5 drops for 500mL.

I don't boil, but i do heat my bottles in the microwave for a few minutes before PCing. It cuts down on sediment, IME. I'll see sediment in 1 or 2 plates per 120 this way.

That was definitely an interesting read, here's another experiment with tannin:

soooo I made pasty plates but I forgot about them and let them cool for two days before steam sterilizing them and now they all have white dots on them. Can I still sterilize them? or are they done for?

Microwave boil?

I throw mine in a pot with cold water and bring up to a simmer slowly.
Soon as it starts bubbling I pull it off and pour my holy grails.
Let them cool then pc. It boils again in the pc.

Comes out kinda cloudy tho I’d be interested in trying your microwave tek.
