I like this idea... my mother in law does a lot of gardening and composting... shes an old school hippy too so I can probably just have her compost it all... Thanks!

For sure. That’s a great idea! :super:

Curious what you guys think here...sure seems real fuzzy on top. I’m not that experienced and I apologize for the pic quality but I’d like to know if this is normal or if I contaminated like 25 plates. Each one has a varying amount of this which is why I’m concerned, but for all I know it’s just due to humidity differences in the plates.

That does look a little goofy... I'm not a noob but also not super experienced... I usually let shit go for a while... worst case you can take xfers and hope to clean it up

I will probably drop some pieces into one of my old jars that never germinated. Is this something you’ve seen before? My only worry is that all my new plates have it, but it’s also my first plates ever using LME instead of grain soak water and I am loving the results...besides the fuzz.

Yeah I’ve had some fuzzy plates before, usually the first few transfers off a spore plate.

But you’ve got really nice rhizo all around so I’m pretty confident it’s healthy.

I’d use new jars though, or at least re pc.

Drop 3/4 of that to a CLEAN jar and take some of those lovely fingers to new plates

Question for you guys. I had a dish that was extremely fluffy and cottony looking. I had it on the incubator for about a week and it had a lot of condensation. Once I removed the other ten dishes in The incubator the condensation dried up and the dish completely flatten out. You could even see growth along the putter edges of the plate. I’ll post a before and after. Could the condensation have played that much of a roll in the fluffy mycelium? I’m asking now because I did a transfer of the same strain and it’s extremely fluffy now yet there is very minimal condensation.

Anyone mind taking a look at the below pics? Some look completely fucked I know. Any advice on what you see I have done wrong would be appreciated. Im guessing mainly my swab/sterile technique could take a lot of practice.

I tried a couple runs before but believe I was making the agar too stiff and nothing was taking. This time round I have some growth at least but cant discern much given its my first go.

The plates are made with a 20g ag/20g lme/1l water. Some are swabbed, some are dropped from a syringe. These are all the plates showing some sort of growth. Is any of it useful for a transfer or should I keep working on my technique?

How do these look? Tell me everything. First transfer from different germ plates from different spore prints. All Golden Teacher. Thinly poured 20g agar 10g LME 1 liter. Thank you in advance.

Four plates, top and bottom. (1,2,3,4)

High nutrients cause fluffy growth

The growth there looks like mold in the first few plates, definitely bacteria and the pictures are too poor to tell anything else:shrug:

I gave up on my GT because they all seemed fluffy contam looking, all the way to T3s. So maybe I should have just knocked up a jar to see.
You can see GT in my log, always fluffy, never rizo...

Is it okay to go to grain even if its just the first transfer? For the ones that look good?
