Well I upped my agar, cause for what ever reason I thought that it would be a good idea. So I did 14g agar to 250ml coffee and 250 water. Plates turned out harder than I like with LME. I just nocked up half of them with a bunch of old prints. Found Eats Burma circuit 2014. But I also transfered active cultures as a control.

3x what I use for stiff agar, 6x what I use for soft agar

Yeah I shouldn't drink and cultivate at the same time. Hard to find time to cultivate if that was the case.

For some reason rw is the only kind that gives me trouble. I swiped one print over and over for 2 months and nothing. Got a second one and swiped it 6 days ago and still nothing.

One of these days rusty. One of these days.

Same as any cube, I'd start with my standard half strength mea (20g agar, 15g LME, 1L water). If that doesnt work I'd try soft agar (11g agar, 15g LME , 1L water)

If that doesnt work id try hydrating the spores, hot pour, various ph, and activated charcoal, in that order

I've been having really bad luck germinating some of the older prints from my old collection lately

Im a noob...if this is in the wrong place please let me know. SO These are the first plates I have ever poured or inoculated. Used a spore syringe. 1-2 drops. Is everything looking ok? Too early to tell..? How large should I let it get before I start any transfers?

I REALLY wanted to get into the RW’s and some kind member sent a print and they germinated within like 5days, I’m yet to grow them out but I’m super excited to get them going. When it gets to that stage I’ll defo be making prints and the mush love will be spread  :awesanta:

Does anyone know the pros and cons of soft vs. hard agar?

I've been wondering if there was a time and place for one or the other.

I have: brf, potato flakes, karo, and some agar and was wondering if you guys have recipes you like with those things. About to streak some spores tomorrow.

Those work but I'd say get some malt extract and keep things standard

Soft agar is harder to streak but better for spore germination (for spores that wont germinate on normal agar)

It's really useful to standardize your agar recipe because then you can actually make meaningful  comparisons between various plates

Do you ever change your agar recipe in between transfers to get the mycelium to change behaviors? I finally got RW fuzzy nightmare to calm down and get more organized decreasing my LME a couple of grams.

I'm going to be using the rest of my no pour containers, so I'm going to be making a new batch of agar. I just want to make one uniform batch across for all of these. I'm going to be using them for swiping prints and transfers, everything, etc. Last time I used 9 grams agar/9 grams LME. I've also been recommended 7 grams agar/10 LME, that it will give me faster growth. What would you guys do or how to mix agar ratios that I can use for the rest of these no pours and that I will be using for everything, swipes, streaking, transfers, inoculating, etc. I just want to make a uniform batch with the rest of these no pour containers that will work the best for everything.
