No harm at all. Complete mutual peace and care for each other. All energy is redirected to prevent potential harm. Its a beautiful art and when mastered is overwhelmingly powerful.

How do you know these guys dont actually just have high levels of naturally developed chi?

Chi doesnt come into existernce simply because you practice an art that recognises it such as tai chi.

Anyway, I thought the video was pretty lame. You could see the people attacking him had no real intention to actually hit the "master".
But then again maybe im wrong. I do know though that Ive seen my Tai Chi teacher, week in week out, throwing his top students into a crash mat just with a gentle push. At first I thought "come on, these guys have got to be throwing themselves backwards" but after watching a while longer and chatting with a couple of them I dont think they are. Why would you pay to pander to this mans ego week in and week out? Is it chi or just a variation on the one inch punch? I dont know, my teacher never really mentions chi anyway he just shows you the moves.

I agree with all who said the video is lame (or something similar). I studied martial arts for about 8 years in my childhood and early teen years, and I have to say that although the guy does employ some useful techniques, his opponents all appear to be on strong opiates (chasing the dragon?)... My martial arts teacher and others that I have seen move 10x faster than the guy in the video when faced with the task of dodging/blocking a blow. Regardless of whether or not you are redirecting force, you must be more quick than your oponent in order to not be struck by him/her. These "opponents" were sluggish and uninspired, and rather than convincing me to buy his video tape to learn martial arts, I think it would have much more use as a means of laughing histarically and learning what not to do when being attacked by old guys in sweat pants....

I never liked the aikido demonstrations, they always are so ghey, the fake overhand chop that they go into just waiting to be flipped over,
