Doubtful, No one is in prison for simple possession of marijuana, that simply doesn't happen. Unless we legalize all drugs, the impact on law enforcement and prosecutions will be neglible.

As for the economy, most daily users of MJ already have jobs and work, legalizing it won't incentivize them to work anymore

The cost is a real cost and I agree it should be decrimilized, I'm saying, and I stand by it, no one is in prison for simple possession. Possession of pounds is not simple possession, would you prefer they be prosecuted for tax evasion? It would cost a lot more to prosecute and the charge would be federal

They couldn't get Al Capone on anything but tax evasion.  And get him they did.  The IRS tax return does not ask how you made your money.  It just asks how much.

He went to jail.  The sentence was 11 years but he served only 7 before the syph rotted his brain.

when it comes to booze, the ferments? or was he just buying booze illegally and selling it? well, he'd be illegally selling booze anyway, during prohibition.

either way...that might have to do with tax evasion. but how is selling pot tax evasion? it would be if pot was taxed, but it's not.

and selling pounds, sure, that might be income tax evasion, but how do you prove who the recipient is? (perhaps with Capone, the money trail led back to him, which i suppose could be a considerable notion towards why he was caught and charged as such).
Al Capone was charged because he was selling illegal spirits, which is taxable. pot isn't. it's strictly illegal. (i'd like to see where it's proviso or clause is in the tax code. or where this statute is in the criminal code that justifies the charge of tax evasion with the crime of small possession.)
pot isn't taxed, so selling amounts that would "condone" a small possession charge, would be below the amount of income received in any taxable bracket of income.

i just don't see how you can trace small possession crime to taxable income. if you're a big time seller, then yeah...sure.

but not small fish.

What are you talking about?  The IRS does not care where you get your income from when you file your tax return.  They just care that you report all of it and pay the taxes on it.  They don't even ask where you got it from.
