Dear Trump supporters - There is no such thing as a free lunch!
    #23202700 -

http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/08/politics/donald-trump-taxes-wealthy/index.htmlhttp://www.cnn.com/2016/05/08/politics/donald-trump-taxes-wealthy/index.html

I'm so sick of these Trump supporters demanding free lunch.

WTF is wrong with these people? Lunch isn't free!

Don't they know that there is no such thing as a free lunch?

UGH, fucking socialist pigs!!

Free lunch, free lunch, free lunch. Sorry, I needed to say "free lunch" three more times to meet my quota.

Does anybody else love repeating the "no such thing as a free lunch" line over and over again?

I feel like it is the most clever and appropriate response to these people who keep demanding more taxes.

Oh yeah.  Pure genius.  He probably just caused a 1% increase in the cost of our debt service with his big fucking mouth.  The man is an idiot.

Ya know you would think the tool had learned after all of his bankruptcies.  Now no serious American bank will lend him money.  Dumb fuck.

What "free lunch" are you referring to?  Can you be specific?  Do you mean you think Government shouldn't pay for schools, roads, defense, etc?

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

No, I absolutely agree that our government should absolutely pay for all those things.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like every other person I talk to who supports Trump or any Republican uses that line.
I just can't get over it. It's like they think they shouldn't have to pay for anything ever, because the constitution.
(Yes, I realize that doesn't make any sense.)

It's like "free lunches" are all they ever talk about.

I wonder what talking head is using that line so often that so many people are constantly repeating it?

Basically, my making this thread was just a poor attempt at mocking these people.

I swear, this election season, I have heard at least 20 people say "there is no such thing as a free lunch" in response to about equally as many situations. So silly...

I still vote, but the fact is the delegates and what not, in the end, they don't legally have to drop a vote for their affiliated parties.... and if someone can be bought for moneyou as is so common with political corruption, what good does any ones votes really do when there is no system of justice, and the delegates are free to walk around and vote for whoever they want to?

Aside from that I still vote, but regardless of who I vote for, I trust no one that I vote for.

Just because somebody is willing to make a lot of stupid, inflammatory comments doesn't mean he is actually challenging aspects of governmental corruption.

It's easy to say a bunch of stuff that isn't "PC" and get a bunch of support from idiots.

That doesn't mean he is actually doing anything real or "challenging gov't corruption.

He isn't even funding his campaign on his own anymore like he said he would, and is now accepting donations. So he can be bought just like the other candidates.

How is he doing anything differently than any of the other candidates?

I do not honestly believe voting for Trump is any different from voting for Clinton.

Neither of them care about the common people like you and me. They can't even relate to average people. It has been decades since either of them has been a "normal" person. They can't possibly relate to the people they serve, and they are both useless.

Doesn't promote violence against opposing parties at campaign events.

Okay, a little too much bullshit there to sift through at once, so let's start here.

Prove that one of his opponents has promoted violence against his campaign events. Provide links, quotes, anything.

This is obviously a load of shit, and if you actually believe that is true you stupid beyond belief, but I just want to see what you can come up with.

Is offering to pay the legal fees of somebody who attacked a non violent protestor not supporting violence?

Is saying you want people to be punched in the face not promoting violence?

You are an idiot. No, seriously. You are so fucking stupid, it is almost unbelievable.

Here is the proof that you are an idiot.
Donald Trump might pay legal fees for man who punched and threatened to kill North Carolina protester
Trump on His Supporters Attacking Protesters: ‘That’s What We Need More Of’
Quote:
"We’ve had a couple that were really violent. And the particular one when I said, [I'd] like to bang him. That was — a very vicious — you know, he is a guy who was swinging very loud and then started swinging at the audience. And you know what? The audience swung back. And I thought it was very, very appropriate. He was swinging, he was hitting people and the audience hit back. And that’s what we need a little bit more of. Now, I’m not talking about just a protester. This was a guy who was — should not have been allowed to do what he did. And frankly, if you want to know the truth, the police were very, very restrained. The police have been amazing. But the police were very, very restrained.”

Okay, after taking a dab, I just want to say that I was being a super harsh asshole in my previous posts.

Not all of Trump's ideas are completely bad, and many of the greatest minds in history didn't thrive in academic environments.

Having said that, I find it annoying when people try to debate without at least trying to support their arguments with facts, and I think much of what you said can easily be proved wrong.

Sanders supporters-what say you about this?

I can definitely understand why some people don't like Bernie.

That being said, personally, if the election were tomorrow, I would probably vote for Bernie. Not because of promises about "free college, healthcare, etc." I know he wouldn't be able to get most that stuff done, which is why I'm not too worried about 18 trillion in debt that won't happen.

I would vote for him because our government needs some balance to function and I am afraid of all these batshit crazy right wingers in congress. These people are not making decisions that are based on reality or (IMO) even real conservative values.

And our country does desperately need conservative values to keep progressive spending like the kind that Bernie wants in check. But some of these GOP congressmen are fucking crazy, man. We can't let them have their way all the time, either.

They need a Bernie Sanders or we would probably have goddamn religious police in certain **cough**red**cough** states in no time. I think that is barely even an exaggeration.

Bernie's got some pretty crazy ideas, but at least he is trying to base them on the shared reality that we all live in, and not biblical fantasies.

And Donald Trump? C'mon people. I don't like Hillary. I don't want to vote for Hillary. But Donald Trump? WTF?

He is not a business genius. If you inherit at least $250 million dollars like he did, you don't have to be brilliant turn that into more money. And Trump definitely isn't, as some of his businesses have failed in the past.

Yeah, I could never support a candidate that doesn't at least support medical marijuana. Fuck anyone who believes marijuana should be illegal. IMO those types of people are despicable.
People who help put non-violent drug offenders in prison are on the same level as Nazis taking Jews to concentration camps, IMO. If you arrest someone knowing that person could spend the rest of their life in prison for drugs, you are scum.

A person who supports that type of shit is the lowest of the low, IMO..

It always makes me laugh when people say stuff along the lines of - "If people have a problem with marijuana laws where they live, they should just move to another country. If you get arrested it's your own fault."

I wonder if people who think that also believe it was the fault of the Jewish people for getting murdered in Germany.

"The Jews chose to live in Germany in the first place. If they had a problem with being murdered and tortured in concentration camps, they should've just moved out of Germany before they were arrested."

Yeah, makes sense.

Ya know, the more I think about it, the more I realize how similar being a pot smoker and being Jewish really are.

Having Jewish parents is not wrong. Neither is smoking marijuana in any public place that people are allowed to smoke tobacco.

Neither of these things in and of themselves is wrong, and neither of these things in and of themselves should lead to a person being locked in a cage or punished.

The idea that losing your freedom because you did either of those things is fucking stupid, and anybody who agrees with that a person should lose their freedom for either of those things is probably a shitty person or an idiot.

It really is as simple as that.

(And it should go without saying that situations like driving under the influence or endangering others while you are intoxicated on any drug, include marijuana, are totally, totally, different. I do agree people need to be regulated there.)

You should come hang out in the Rise of the Far right thread. This argument has been made from time to time about muslims and other immigrant populations and i'm sure i've heard it used somewhere about natives who are deemed "sympathisers". qman says quite frequently that basically muslims should self-deport before they are killed.
"if you don't like it, leave" is the weakest argument coming from people within "democracies"!!

Also I agree that any politican that doesn't support even medical cannabis is not fit for election in this day and age.

Its a non issue if youre not a minority, dont give a fuck about the prison complex (and its implicit racial bias), big pharma's deadly addictive drugs and obscene profit margins, bloated law enforcement and DEA budgets, etc etc.

Marijuana legalization is a litmus test for honesty. If youre against it, youd better have a reason why. And if that reason is "gateway drugs blah blah blah" then its clear youre beholden to the aforementioned special interests.

its far from my number one issue but a serious issue for millions, including myself. The point is that the position to be against medical cannabis is retarded considering all the evidence in this day and age. Also its not just about cannabis, its about the policy towards all drugs. Its not just stoners that are affected.

I wonder if you would lose your shit running towards Bernie to make love to him if he wanted to decriminalise heroin.

Why? It might be the most significant thing they feel affects their life? I agree there are plenty of things that are more important generally speaking to the country but individuals say with cancer, MS, or in prison for cannabis etc are directly affected by its illegality in some very personally significant ways.

You can't decide on the validity of other's reasons for voting one way or another. People vote based on the issues that are important to them.

The kleptocrats are the socialists.  In a capitalist society the rich (producers) get powerful.  In a socialist society the powerful (corrupt politicians) get rich.  See Brazil.

that isn't socialism. that's merely corruption. you can say that it's a natural consequence of socialism, because somehow these people are "allowed to do what they do" (even though that's not the case); well the same can be said for Capitalism, when the kleptocrat corporate cronies also get into positions of power...and they're already getting rich too! but they get more riches because they play politics, all the same, like these "socialist kleptocrats" do. same difference.

but just ignore this facet of HUMANITY and just imagine that these people can't indeed maneuver within a capitalist society just the same.

Yup. There is absolutely no reason simple possession of marijuana should be illegal.

Anyone who thinks that is justified is an idiot, and their opinion is worthless.

The sooner every person who thinks that is dead, the sooner the world will be a better place.

there is no such thing as capitalism once everything is owned; then it is, by definition, a controlled "economy". so let's not starting killing people because they are poor, K, guys?

it's funny that people say that really "people are the problem" when it comes to socialism or capitalism's faults in function -- people's laziness and corruption.

then why do we want to take the option that takes people out of the equation, if the scenario thus is true? if this is inescapable corruption and collapse due to human nature, then what are we opting for exactly?

PS: mass immigration into the US from Mexico is contrived by the war on drugs.

the drugs, BTW, will still need to be sold, by cartels. they will tunnel or go around the supposed 'wall-to-be'. the wall addresses a symptom, not the problem.

legalizing weed, would already be a massive positive impact on the US economy, too, by the by.

the other wants to weaken the national sovereignty and give more power to brussel/eu. he's not a friend of direct democracy... their "partner-party" in germand (die grünen) event wanted to forbid "national referendum" for special topics..

it's hard. especialy because VdB is not really a "left socialist more-or-less-communist". he is a hardcore liberal capitalist - but he's good at hiding these things...

but i have to admit, right now i would vote the "neo-nazi" over the "pseudo-communist"... it's because iam not a friend of the european union in it's current form(!) as well...

the other wants to weaken the national sovereignty and give more power to brussel/eu. he's not a friend of direct democracy... their "partner-party" in germand (die grünen) event wanted to forbid "national referendum" for special topics..

it's hard. especialy because VdB is not really a "left socialist more-or-less-communist". he is a hardcore liberal capitalist - but he's good at hiding these things...

but i have to admit, right now i would vote the "neo-nazi" over the "pseudo-communist"... it's because iam not a friend of the european union in it's current form(!) as well...

... in the end i will vote "white"... means i will vote none of them...

as allways: please excuse my bad english...

no youre english is good, don't worry, only a few minor mistakes

hmm i see your position and it does seem difficult that there isn't really much choice available.

I'm no friend of the EU machine as it is currently either but it is the far right that will benefit from leaving the EU. States will go back to nationalism and these parties are in the best position for that. I think that would be very destructive for Europe as a whole.
Even though I don't like the EU as it is, I am voting in the UK referendum to stay in because when looking at the bigger picture, if we can reform the EU from the inside it could be much better than what it is today. I've been thinking a while on this and my first impression was that the UK should leave but I've come to realise that is unwise.

This made a good point...whether you like Varoufakis or not. (2m 10 onwards)

We are at a time where a divided, crumbling EU is not helpful to any of our countries. Even in relation to the refugee crisis.. we need to work out a plan coordinated across the entire EU for it to be effective.

So youre saying the far-left candidate is actually just more like a liberal capitalist? so they aren't as far-left as they claim?
and the far-right hate cannabis, gays, foreigners etc etc? What do you mean you will vote "white"?
my perspective is there is never a good reason to vote neo-nazi. One day of voting leads to an entire political term of 4/5 years in power.

legalizing weed, would already be a massive positive impact on the US economy, too, by the by.

excellent point.

Zappa just characterises things as a bunch of stoners who just want weed legal

-not only is the black market aspect significant..
-but the health element - if you had a health condition that made your life hard without medical cannabis (MS, Cancer etc), its understandable for that to be on your election priority list.. plus issues around mental health issues will have more discussion and funding.. it affects other attitudes towards other drugs and other treatments too. Portugal has had huge successes from it and its now defended by left and right. America certainly has a problem with other drugs besides cannabis...
-and the fiscal element - the tax revenue
-the civil rights aspect
etc

Zappas priority sounds a lot weaker than that. "minimising socialism" is a shit and irrelevant priority...but coming from someone that was probably brought up conditioned by the red scare, its somewhat understandable.

Doubtful, No one is in prison for simple possession of marijuana, that simply doesn't happen. Unless we legalize all drugs, the impact on law enforcement and prosecutions will be neglible.

As for the economy, most daily users of MJ already have jobs and work, legalizing it won't incentivize them to work anymore

great.

and?

and what is he evading the taxes of, then? fertilizer?
when it comes to booze, the ferments? or was he just buying booze illegally and selling it? well, he'd be illegally selling booze anyway, during prohibition.

either way...that might have to do with tax evasion. but how is selling pot tax evasion? it would be if pot was taxed, but it's not.

and selling pounds, sure, that might be income tax evasion, but how do you prove who the recipient is? (perhaps with Capone, the money trail led back to him, which i suppose could be a considerable notion towards why he was caught and charged as such).
Al Capone was charged because he was selling illegal spirits, which is taxable. pot isn't. it's strictly illegal. (i'd like to see where it's proviso or clause is in the tax code. or where this statute is in the criminal code that justifies the charge of tax evasion with the crime of small possession.)
pot isn't taxed, so selling amounts that would "condone" a small possession charge, would be below the amount of income received in any taxable bracket of income.

i just don't see how you can trace small possession crime to taxable income. if you're a big time seller, then yeah...sure.

but not small fish.

Yes it is.  As I have stated more than a few times the IRS does not ask where you got your money from.  All they care about is that you tell them all of it and pay the taxes on it.

how is selling pot tax evasion? it would be if pot was taxed, but it's not.

and selling pounds, sure, that might be income tax evasion
i just don't see how you can trace small possession crime to taxable income. if you're a big time seller, then yeah...sure.

but not small fish.

ie, a small bit of pot is not fungible.

It's obvious that the real problem with America today is this sense of entitlement that I project on everyone who isn't as rich as me. The rich being too greedy is never, ever the problem

The rich are always greedy, that's why they changed the supply and demand equation of the labor market.  Outsourcing jobs and bringing in illegals results in higher profit margins, change those polices and wages go higher for US citizens.
