I have that exact same scale too. I paid like 10 bucks for it on ebay. Then I spent like another 5 bucks on 200 and 500 gram calibration weights and the scale has worked perfectly for like 2 years. Anyway, my new tool of the trade is in my sig
Yea I cant remember if I commented on it or not yet but nice build dude!!
Yup, damn cheap and works great. I paid like $15 from Amazon and was delivered in one day which is rare in Canada. I don't have a calibration weight for it though, May just take it so a shop and ask to use theres.

Can it be recalibrated? some cannot so the weight is just verifying if its reading OK. In which case you can just get some object you have, like an ornament and weight it on a known good scale and note the weight and just check it on your scale from time to time. I have also made my own calibration weight, as I do not need to be too exact. I get a object near say 500g and tape on other objects until it reaches 500g.
I have a label on my scales with weights of coins on it. You can put several coins on to test near the weight you intend to get. i.e. if you are about to weigh an oz put on 2x2euro and 4x1euro coins which are 30g. If a scale is off it might not be linear.
For the europeans EUR 2 Weight (g): 8.50 EUR 1 Weight (g): 7.50 50 cent Weight (g): 7.80 20 cent Weight (g): 5.74 10 cent Weight (g): 4.10 5 cent Weight (g): 3.92 2 cent Weight (g): 3.06 1 cent Weight (g): 2.30

It can yes, the instructions it came with say to use a 2000g(2kg?!) weight to calibrate it. I'd rather it be close to 100% accurate as possible. A Canadian nickel weighs 3.95g but my scale read 4.0g. 0.5 isn't bad at all though.

Well if your scale is only reading to 0.1g then it's fine, i.e. it has got to round up to the nearest .1g, so even if perfectly calibrated and if you coin is exactly 3.95g is has got to display either 4.0g or 3.9g.
Coins are typically coated with grime & dirt so should weigh a touch more. The metal can wear off a little but still the dirty probably outweighs this. You could get rolls of fresh coins if you are really worried.

A "baker edge gard model 4252" I aquire from a friend of a friend who works at a local pharmaceutical company. They got new models and auctioned off this one. This model is 20yrs old or so. Nothing wrong w it tho got it for great deal. $600 I think lol something like that..
BTW I can get one twice as long I think he said if anyone's interested lol.
Let's pretend that didn't happen, and that i never listened to a confused individual lol whoops..
To make up for that for those who caught it lol...

A wine chiller for my culture fridge. On its lowest setting it freezes up and forms ice in the back of the fridge. I just bumped up the temp setting four degrees I think and all the ice dissappeared. The chiller has a clear glass door so I taped black plastic over it so my culture's aren't in the light while stored.
Then gusseted bags from the u line company for straw bags ect.(yeah straw not hay...)
I know The culture fridge wasn't a great investment at all, but it works fine. I was in a pinch. Really wanted this nice 250$ mini fridge on sale for 125$ but I was broke so I got the wine chiller. $60-$70 at local discount second hand store.
The racks suck so I used one of my plastic gusseted bags to wrap each slide out shelf in the fridge. Which made it so the shelf didn't have places where dishes could slide through to the shelf below. Lmao. Minimal room but will due for now while im.gettin my foot in the door
Soon I'll get a bigger fridge and have this a back up or store masters in each fridge in case one has any issues. Something like that
Has anyone dug into what wheat straw is grown with? Chemicals ect? Or whatever kind of straw u use?
I know hay is treated with velspar or valspar. I'm gonna try to look into this ask some local farmers. My buddy was saying this velspar is a phosorus based neurotoxin.... ..
I'm pretty concerned about what I use to grow.. got oyster bags coming soon wanna grow em on the best straw I can find otherwise I'll find wood to use and won't use straw if I'm unsatisfied. I'm just growing for pleasure, to learn, for food, medicine, ect so I'm not willing to sacrifice quality. Even if I was growing for profit I wouldn't be

Most definitely is hay, not straw. I've only baled 2,200 bales a day every summer for the beginning of my life. Nice hood though!!

Original CSlurry Jar going strong. Proved useful for making large slurries like 2 quarts grain to 2 quarts of water.

I did a tek on it. The tek turned into a thread of my ongoing experiments. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21256825 The original purpose of the jar was a fluke, but for making slurry, it works.

Hey...! I got tired of laying my lids and tools just anyplace.
I decided to build a dedicated spot where I could place my equipment while I'm in front of the flow hood.
This miniature table was made from four wooden tongue depressors, small wooden dowels and molding trim wood from Home Depot.
The table hinges down when I need to use it......

wallah..! I use it all the time, even lc jars when I want to suck the culture out of it laying on Its side.

Dude that's slick. I was doing a bunch of g2g in front of the hood the other day and was thinking about how nice it would be to have a place to set lids. On that note I've mounted my big roll of parafilm to the hood and I'm getting one of those wire racks for boxes of gloves to mount on the blower housing. I'm also getting an impulse sealer, and since my hood is up against the wall it seems like mounting the sealer to the wall would be cool.
