Do you have a reliable way to determine validity that is non metaphorical?
Anything 100% always valid?

I just want to know what makes the question of validity technical in the context in which you applied it in this thread?
your answers seem to pose defensiveness about your unique inclination to question the validity of any comments not in agreement with yours.

Are you saying the above is metaphorical? There was an example provided after the definition, but neither one was a metaphor. Or are you thinking that validity is metaphorical? In that case, validity is a technical term and not metaphorical. Or, if I read you correctly, just redirect your transparent, flaccid nitpicking at yourself.

This isn't statistical validity, so percentages aren't an issue. Although you're free to describe how that would work. Validity referred to above concerns truth claims about the world.

posters here are acting like they cannot commune with nature and enjoy modern sensibilities, at the same time.

you're all controlled, but not by yourselves. you know who you are.

You know, the hustle and bustle of western culture in which I'm sure most, if not all, of us here reside. Would you trade it all in for a hunter/gatherer existence, living in harmony with the planet - if you could?

I'd love to have a few months away from all the technology but doing that permanently isn't really 'living in harmony with the planet' as the planet includes much more than that, it's like if you go on a long meditation retreat away form the city and then feel like you've 'got it', but if you were then dropped in the middle of a busy city you'd probably 'lose it'

Having lived in the city, i'm not suprised at the wanna be bush wackers, one of my few long term plans is moving to the countryside, but if you can't be at harmony with the rest of it then you're just kidding yourself, on some level everyones kidding themselves though so have at it
