Order and Chaos
    #20536250 -

Chaos is simply that order which 1) we do not understand 2) has yet to manifest into order that is perceivable.

Chaos and order as we know it are two sides of one coin which implies that there is no actual chaos, just differing perhaps layered forms of order.

What we perceive as order may actually be closer to the definition given to what we perceive as chaos..given that order as we know it is derived from chaos...which, in this description, is of a higher order, an order of a different frequency.

You need more LSD, it's like a laxative for these type of thought patterns.

this little piece has stuck with me since the first time i read it some years ago. i hope you enjoy it too.

Quote:
Chaos has been much maligned and slandered. Even most anarchists refuse to associate themselves with chaos. It has been equated with murder and mayhem. Yet it should be obvious that this is the lying propaganda of the forces of order. For the history fo the imposition of order is the history of increasing warfare, murder, rape, mayhem and oppression. Order, not chaos, destroys wantonly for it cares only to impose its form on all beings. Only those who dare to be avatars of chaos can stand against the murderous rule of order.

But if chaos is not murder and mayhem as we have been told, then just what is it? Is it disorder? No, for disorder requires order and chaos is beyond all order. Disorder is order fucking up. The universe is naturally chaotic. When someone tries to impose order on some small part of it, the order will inevitably come into conflict with the chaotic universe and will start to break down. It is this breaking down of imposed order that is disorder.

Undisturbed by order, chaos creates balance. It is not the artifical balance of scales and weights, but the lively, ever-changing balance of a wild and beautiful dance. It is wonderful; it is magickal. It is beyond any definition, and every attempt to describe it can only be a metaphor that never comes near to its true beauty or erotic energy.

Our freedom depends on learning to be part of chaos’ erotic dance. To do this, we need to get in touch with our animal insincts, our deepest desires. We need to reject every form of authority, external and internal, for all repress our instincts. We must not seek to be masters of our lives, but rather to truly LIVE, to end every seperation within ourselves so that we ARE our lives.

By taking freedom and pleasure for ourselves now, we become part of the beautiful dance of chaos. We become involved in the magickal adventure of creating paradise on earth now. The bloody history of order ceases to be the only reality we know and the beauty of chaos begins to show through. For chaos is beautiful, the ecstasy of androgynous Eros shining throughout the universe.

From the pamphlet, “Rants, Essays and Polemics of Feral Faun” (Chaotic Endeavors, 1987)

Reminds me of Discordianism, it all began with Hill and Thornley discussing a poem that Thornley had written on the theme of order emerging from chaos, and Hill disagreed, insisting order was a construction of the human mind, and only chaos was real...

The two young men each claimed to have had a dream five nights later, during which the goddess Eris appeared to them. She declared that freedom lay in realizing the unreality of all dogma, “and amid squeals of mirth and with tears on their cheeks, each appointed the other to be high priest of his own madness, and together they declared themselves to be a society of Discordia, for what ever that may turn out to be”

The Sacred Chao (pronounced “cow”), also sometimes referredto as the
Hodge-Podge, is a play on the Yin-Yang, containing an apple inscribed “Kallisti” onone side, representing chaos, and a pentagon representing order on the other. Taken as a whole, however, the Sacred Chao symbolises the Discordian idea that both order and chaos are man-made concepts, and that to believe that either is more “true” than the other is illusion. The SacredChao represents “pure chaos”, the metaphysical grounding of all that is, and a level beyond any distinction-making (Malaclypse the Younger 2007 [1969]: 49-5

Only order exists IMO and it's not our order that's running the show.
It's chaos that thinks we have a part in this.

I agree that too much order is at the brink of chaos itself. The more order a system has, the more 'surrounding and stabilizing' factors are eliminated,  so that less and less impulse from outside, or errors within can destabilize the whole system.
But once it happens, the more order the system had before, the more chaotic will be the outcome of that destabilization.

I prefer the alternative view: order is simply a false pattern we have perceived over chaos.  IOW: there is no order, only varying degrees of chaos.

Quote:
"The Aneristic Principle is that of apparent order; the Eristic Principle is that of apparent disorder. Both order and disorder are man made concepts and are artificial divisions of pure chaos, which is a level deeper than is the level of distinction making.

With our concept-making apparatus called "the brain" we look at reality through the ideas-about-reality which our cultures give us. The ideas-about-reality are mistakenly labeled "reality" and unenlightened people are forever perplexed by the fact that other people, especially other cultures, see "reality" differently. It is only the ideas-about-reality which differ. Real (capital-T) True reality is a level deeper than is the level of concept."

...

"The point is that (little-t) truth is a matter of definition relative to the grid one is using at the moment, and that (capital-T) Truth, metaphysical reality, is irrelevant to grids entirely. Pick a grid, and through it some chaos appears ordered and some appears disordered. Pick another grid, and the same chaos will appear differently ordered and disordered. Reality is the original Rorschach. Verily! So much for all that."

--Malaclypse the Younger
