Anybody else read the "Principia Discordia or How I Found Goddess, and What I Did to Her When I Found Her"?

Hillarious stuff.

Ped...great posts, thank you! The issuse that Frog (also, great post) raised with this kind of acceptance is also something that has been on my mind. I created a post "Acceptance and Action", which was about the question of how or why we would act in a universe that we accept. My main point was that by removing our 'selves' and our ego driven, self-centeredness we accept things as they are (therby eliminating our own suffering) but are still compelled to act out of compassion. This action prompted by compassion and in the absence of self is "True" action and will have profound effects on the world because it's motivation stems from and is empowered by Pure Consciousness rather than ego.

Also, Ped, in your first post of this thread you said,

"If we can relax this sense of self-importance, we can come to realize that truly, all things are filled with beauty and are worthy of our reverence, even those events which may bring us a seemingly enormous degree of suffering."

You used the word "seemingly", are you subtlety implying that suffering is not real? If so, I think I would concur.

Eris is the goddess of discord; however, she is not chaos. It is said that she is the daughter of Chaos.
Quote:

In the beginning there was Chaos. Chaos was a gap of some sort, so it only makes sense that out of a black hole (so to speak), Darkness and Night would emerge. These, named Erebos and Nyx, respectively, were the children of Chaos.
Generation 2
The mating of these two dark forces produced Brightness (Aither) and Day (Hemere).
Without sexual relations, Nyx produced a host of offspring:

Moros (doom)
Apate (deceit)
The Moirai (fates: Klotho, Lachesis, and Atropos)
The Oneiroi (dreams)
Ker (destruction)
Thanatos (death)
Oizus (pain)
Hypnos (sleep)
the Hesperides
Keres (punishes transgressions)
Nemesis (indignation, retribution)
Philotes (love)
Eris (strife)
Geras (old age)
Momos (blame)

And the way the Greeks depicted Eris is not at all would a god of chaos would be like. She was more a trouble maker than any inkling of utter and true chaos. The one who played his fiddle while Rome burned would be a much better example, IMO.

However, I don't know much about the god Chaos who created Nyx, and I don't think much is known about him anyway other than his children.

Other creation myths of ancient Greece say out of Chaos came Ouranos (Air/Space) and Gaia (Earth). Greeks in different times held different creation myths, but more or less the same deities.
