I think we should eat poor people on welfare.  We paid to fatten 'em up, right, shouldn't we get the "turkey"?

*misses the point*

lets not get into a retarded discussion about how we all need to eat... we all know this very intriguing fact.

The only time I haven't harassed vegetarians over whatever weird reasons they gave for not eating meat is if they genuinely dislike the flavor and/or texture of meat, so it's a matter of preference. I can get behind that logic.

nah, it was just explained... reaction to corporatism, and capitalizing on species, literally speaking...

those reasons suck, cause they pose a threat to YOUR preferences.

Thinking you're gonna live to 100 is retarded anyways. Veganism is far from a super diet. Just some deluded shit someone would tell themselves to inflate their already huge sense of superiority (not referring to all vegans, just the douche kind). I'll probably live longer than most vegans if I don't kill myself or overdose first.

good that you clarified. i'd agree with you on this statement.

but i'd say there ARE legitimate principles against meat eating... doesn't mean I AM going to stop eating the meat that is slaughtered for me... but i certainly wouldn't give a fuck if we left 'em alone, in my opinion. farm... go ahead... but killing by the mass load.

nawwwt for me... but it is still going to happen so... when in rome.

it's threads like this, the shroomery...
i don't stop in here very often any more, but when i do, i'm bound to find threads like this.

some people, for dietary reasons or for ethical reasons, or for both, just don't like eating animal products.  it really doesn't mean much.

sure there are extremists, but those are few and far between.

if i thought that one person in this thread would like to hear why i'm a vegetarian (and semi-vegan) i'd explain my thought process but this thread has been nothing a good place for people to harass people who don't eat the same food as them.

I agree there are legitimate reasons to avoid or limit meat consumption. But you know what they say, everything in moderation.

Old man Raymond, a guy I knew... First thing he did when he woke up was walked to the liquor store and bought a bottle of Schnapps.  Start drinking right after breakfast which consisted of deep fried bacon, which was deep fried in lard, with eggs and Bread, both pan-fried in bacon fat or lard.
He would drink all day while he worked on his farm, smoke cigarettes with no filters, called Camel unfiltered (not even sure if they make those anymore) every meal he ate was artery clogging madness... I know, I ate some before... and he would get drunk as hell by nightfall.  He did the same routine from the time he got married when he was 20
I worked for him sometimes during the summers until I was about 14 when he died.

He lived to be 98 years old.

which was already established, right? sorry for being a dork, but ... people seems to have a hard time establishing a consensus around here sometimes. just for clarifications... it's pretty obvious that it DOESN'T MATTER about your diet, when it comes to how much "LIFE" you can have in you.

THAT isn't the point, in my opinion, behind veganism, AT ALL.

I have to somewhat agree with what akira_akuma said.

You don't like the sensation of having an unpleasant texture in your mouth, or an unpleasant flavor, and to you this is cause enough not to eat a thing.

To the type of person you speak of, eating meat causes a "discomfort" which could be considered emotionally analogous to the physical displeasure of an off-flavor. Some people would just rather not have a "bad taste in their heart" when they eat.

I like to be objective and rational as possible. I eat meat. And I feel guilt over it. Thousands of other creatures have probably died so that I can continue to live. Honestly, I sometimes wonder how people DON'T feel bad when they think about something like that. Do you feel that you're so much more important than thousands of other living creatures?

Don't take that as an insult... I'm certainly no better...

True.

I wish to avoid being a hypocrite when I speak, but I am a vegetarian. I totally can understand the logic in veganism, but I've found a weird mental thing associated with the title of Vegan.

I gave up meat sometime in high school, I'm a sophomore in college now, and well, when you go through high school as a vegetarian, vegetarians seem to flock to you. I've found so many kinds of animal activists and they all fall in a strange gauge that measures their intensities. I'm not the intense type, I am no food critic, I don't deny meat as a food source, I just choose to not eat it. I don't eat meat for every single reason that every vegetarian has told you (vegetarians don't have to lie about their facts...eh, vegans are another story).

PETA, and yes, I directly look at them, has done for veganism what Paris Hilton has done for cocaine. PETA uses a strong aspect of propaganda on children, selling them awesome things like book bags and stickers and t-shirts that all flaunt PETA's logo. A lot of kids wear these intense, sometimes graphic clothes to school and it spreads the word. My point, there are so many coke heads who thought doing coke was glamorous.

What PETA has also done is create a Martin Luther King complex, and makes all of their PETA peons consider that "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"...it's not an uncommon attitude to pick up. Nor is it shameful for them to spread that idea. PETA took an idea, that was common in many American's minds and represented it as a way to make money, and brainwash people. to help animals.

What PETA has done wrong is make their followers super infatuated with PETA. It's like a hormone that is on their "no meat" stickers or something. But those affected individuals do. Some. Crazy. Shit. The shit on YouTube, people not eating yeast, this only scratches the surface of what those psychos are doing out there.

As a final note, Pescetarians are lame, eating that much fish=retarded offspring; Vegans in general are just people who don't use animal products; Psychovegans vomit if they taste honey.oryeast.or...uh.. walk on asphalt?

By the way. Fuck death. Bring it, Bitch.
