Either.  Dont make the mistake of using one culture's metric to judge another culture's way of life.

What does this mean? Are you implying that Indians have it good by their standards?

They live in prisoner of war camps ("Reservations") that were created on infertile land. Nearly all the bison on their land were killed, their woman were raped, and White people broke every treaty they ever signed with the Indians.

1863 the largest mass execution in American history took place. Lincoln ordered 38 Indians executed two days after signing the emancipation proclamation.

1890 Sioux village with over 300 Indians (woman and children included) were surrounded and killed with using the hotchkiss gun. Twenty Congressional Medals of Honor for Valor were given to the 7th Calvary for their incredible ability to slaughter so many innocent woman and children. This is more than any other battle in US history. (Yes, this includes Vietnam, world wars 1 and 2, Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan)

You need to stop going to KKK meetings thats fucking ridiculous.

Sorry, but get the fuck out the way?  This land is too valuable to let it be a preserve for backwards ass cavedwellers who would rather spend their days banging rocks together.

Indians survived thousands of years by banging rocks together, great logic. You obviously know absolutely nothing about the history of Indians or their culture.

Lets destroy billions of years of evolution so we can have pointless material objects and print millions of 100 dollar bills, then we will be happy, successful and live fulfilling lives.

I haven't read most of the replies here, however -

I think that we shouldn't forget that the Native Americans stole land from other tribes - food, women, children..etc.

I think also - a definition of "just" needs to be met before one could enter into a conversation about it.

Justice can be many things - and is a vague term.

Within the government, you have malum in se and malum prohibitum laws.  Slavery for instance - was once legal.  It is not legal now although we are all slaves.

Ambiguity causes much disruption in discussions such as this.

Well ask yourself; would you be happier in a society were you weren't just a consumer to be won over by one of many large corporations, talking you into having needs you didn't have initially?

Or in a society were the buffalo's are aplenty, a simpler society. Were the days are spent hunting, and the nights making love.
A society in which all are evolutionary instincts aren't denied us every day of our lives. Were we are not to conform to the standards of our boss. A society in which there are no loans, fines or pensions.
Were one is not burdened by collossal amounts of property. Were one doesn't have to fear letting his family downn by not conforming to ruling standards, and thus getting fired. Not having to worry about the disappointment in your wifes eyes.

We covered that.  It is a lie.

No, justice is easily defined.  If you apply the things that are good for you to others without impinging on their rights you have justice.

They live in prisoner of war camps...

Im talking about modern native americans.  Yes, many generation ago they were fucked over in brutal warfare.  Now days though, they have more rights than white, black or hispanic americans.  They do not live in prisoner of war camps, they have the right to live on or off the reservation as they choose.  Thats a right I dont have, and I resent that I am being denied rights because of my ethnicity.

Unfortunately, many of my family members are Sioux and their ancestors did in fact war over land, food, women, and children.  In fact, like most ethnicities found throughout the world, they participated in slavery of their  own kind as well.

Us citizens are slaves to all political parties.  That is mighty sad, too.  Being Citizens of the us have the freedom to move if they disagree with the facets of living here.

Also,  comparing an old lifestyle with the woes of today is fallicious, especially considering that the rest of the worlds indigenous peoples are adapting.

Of course. The previous European-American idea of Indian as ignorant savage, has been replaced by Indian as wise, spiritual being. Both are caricatures.

Thats interesting, do you have any links to information on this or names of  authors that have said something about this? I think Ive heard something about this before but what I read didnt expand on it much more.

What was the Irish way of life that was so attractive?
