Not this time mate, I didn't bid very cleverly though. Shouldn't have got involved until the last few seconds. Anyway looks like someone sniped my snipe.

Nah man, I'd love to get my hands on some of this. I'm going to ask around again to see if we can get some one to send us some.

Alder chips, for growing woodlovers:

Don't know if it's easy to find them in shops (anyone?) but I don't recall seeing them anywhere.

Stamps going up a fuck ton in april.
I've been saving all the stamps I can find that haven't been post marked yet.
Must be a way to cover them with tape or wax or something that will make them reusable?
Not great for international trades but at least for trades between us it could still be free.
Postage adds up after a while. I spent over 15£ just on trades the other week.

I just read the thread and can say awesome work guys!
A few pages back there is a link to UK co-op bulk buys. I was hoping to jump in on some spawn bags - I had bad experiences with them and gave up, but I think its high time to try again. In the mean time I took the hit and bought a load of rye spawn bags from microscience.
This brings me on to my next point is there anywhere/anyone who could make them up a lot of spawn bags at a more competitive price as I lack time, knowledge and experience. This might be the wrong place to ask for trade and services so please redirect me if this is the case.
I also have a new ultrasonic fogger and matching transformer going spare if anyone is interested? I bought three thinking I would need them all, but obviously not.
Again, great work on the thread!

Also, I'm thinking about getting one of the Hawkin's 14L PC's. I think this is the cheapest we cant find them?
There is http://www.fiera.co.uk/Product/14-ltr-professional-cooker.aspx as well. There site is under construction though so I guess I could give them a call. Not sure if they have VAT included or not.
Also, where do you get replacement gaskets for these? I'd like to have one or two on hand just in case.
I think Tetriana and Egodeathflux have one of these already.
Any tips guys?

I'm not where to get replacement gaskets.. I should probably look into it!
The pressure cooker does it's job, but I don't really like how you have to put the lid inside of it in order to close and seal it. It prevents me from filling it to full capacity because if you have jars anywhere near the top then you can't get the lid inside it. This means I can only put 4 quart jars inside of it standing upright... which is a bit lame. Maybe you could put more in if you put them on their sides.
If you could find one with a different kind of lid then I would suggest avoiding this one.

Thanks for that. I think its my only option. Unless I wait to find a big one on ebay . Been watching it for a long time and never see anything bigger than an 8L. That and I will have the money soonish.
These 6L are just not cutting it. I'm blaming shitty jars for months on them.

I can get 5 1000ml mason jars in mine, it's very tight but once you get the knack of it nothing to worry about. I found a place in Oz that does spares they're $12 Australian. http://www.pressurecooker.com.au/pressure_cooker_spare_parts/21/Hawkins_Big_Boy ;
Didn't get as far as looking at shipping, if it's reasonable it might be worth it, reckon I can find them in the UK with a couple of calls though, sure I've seen them here before. Will get back with results asap.
For the record my gasket still looks 100% and I've been using mine for about a year I think.
Edit: just emailed Fiera as they're not answering the phone today...

I see the chefline is selling them on ebay as well(the pc's). The 14L is actually 1p cheaper on ebay shipped. I sent them an email to the site asking if I could by pass the paypal and ebay fees and pay them what they would get anyways. Might save me 105 if they are ok with it. I think they might be on holiday till next week though.
I just got 600 delivered to my door today.

I think its a technicality thing. Like you have to place it in your shopping cart and check out sort of a thing.
I jsut tried it though and the shopping cart is and endless loop... so

No word from Fiera on the gasket issue yet, I'm sick of all these holidays/bank holidays!
Hey Tetriana here's how I fit my jars in (I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't done it).

If you place your top jar at that angle the lid should just slip on and off without having to fight it. Took me a few practice runs, that top jar is CLOSE to the top of the cooker.
