How to sterilize a syringe with just a pot water and syringe
Thing needed.
A pot Empty Syringe Water(tap can work)
Fill the pot with cold water. turn the burner on High and wait for the water to come to a full boil. now start a 10 minute countdown and keep the water at a full boil.
After 10 minutes take the empty syringe and suck back the boiling water and let it sit in the syringe for 1 minute then expel the water in a sink(not back in the pot)
Repeat 4 more times on the last time keep the water in the syringe cap it and let it cool down.
Hope this helps.
x4
Notes: Use a Q-tip and 70% alcohol to clean the inside of the cap I have found even after months and months they will stay sterile No need to store in the fridge Never try to cool them down fast in the fridge

My shit, thank you very much Shea...I was going to the lengths of filling the syringes with water and putting everything in a jar and PCing
This will make life much easier, in the future...not that I didn't know to use alc in the cap

Do you leave an air bubble in the syringe so when you suction up the spores you will be able to shake em up later if they clump up. How do I make sure that air bubble doesnt have any type of contam.

Do you think that you would be able to do the same thing only with the syringes drawn to sterlize the air inside the syringe for, Gas Exchanging Liquid Cultures. "sterile air syringes, SAS. I totally just made that last part up. I am a dork. I know.

What does that do, like whats the harm? I always just let mine sit a few hours, but it seems you could just throw it in a fresh ziploc and stick that in the fridge if you were in a hurry?

I'm not a fan of rapid expansion and contraction of plastics.

So the chemicals from the plastics will be going into your spore syringes? Making them sterile, or potentially allowing toxins into your substrate? I'm not understanding the harm, I apologize.

There will be no chemicals going in the syringe, your just sterilizing them.

I'm refering to shea's post in that one, not the act of sterilizing a syringe.
Oh and hey, an alternative way to breaking up spore clumps, without sucking air bubbles in or shaking is to set it on a subwoofer or speaker, the vibrations will do the job.

That makes sense. Okydokie.

I have herd that vibrations and temp changes can cause spores to germinate, making the syringes illegal

i have had lots of spore syringes germinate just keeping them at room temp after making them.
so i highly suggest keeping you spore syringes in the fridge after making them if you plan on sending them.
