This thread sucks, nothing ever gets discussed thoroughly with the subject changing every other post. Then when you start a new thread elsewhere it gets deleted b/c it should be in the strain thread, wtf?

Unfortunately thats how it works around these parts
No one agrees on anything when it comes to strains and there are many here who like to tell people they are the SAME so the whole board gets clogged up with opinions and arguments
I will once again use my African tribesman/Japanese businessman analogy
Both human right, well I sure as hell can tell them apart on appearance alone, with mushrooms it isn't just appearance that is important but other factors as well as performance and parameters
Think all mushrooms are the same, your wrong, think all humans are the same give the African tribesman a blackberry and tell him to check his email and he will beat it against a rock until it quits making noise to get the demons out of it all the while wearing a pair of sandals and a loincloth
And if ya think thats funny hand the Japanese businessman a blowgun with poison tipped darts and tell him he needs to shoot a monkey out of a tree or his family will go hungry,he will likely stumble around until a large predator eats him and than his family goes hungry anyway
I do understand that many mushrooms (as well as people) are similar....I find it ridiculous to say "The same",if that was the case than why do even the people saying they are the same always have a favorite
.......And so the strain thread lives forever and never gets anything but peoples opinions added to it

And opinions they are. They're like something else everyone has.
We need a strain thread because we were getting five to twenty strain threads started every day because people wouldn't read any of them, but simply start a new one. Now we close those so people who really want information can find it without endless, worthless discussion about strains in three or four threads per page.
I could take five different 'strains' and do a grow with each one, and then post pictures of them with a list of the five strains used. I'd bet the responses couldn't average more than 1 out of 5 correct, which are the odds if everyone simply guessed while blindfolded.
There are no cultivation parameters that are different between strains. There are no substrate parameters that are different between strains. There are no temperature parameters that are different between strains. You won't be able to identify 'strain' by looking, either with or without a microscope, penis envy and the albinos/redspore strains excepted.
Each and every strain can grow very large, or very small fruits, depending on the substrain that emerges. Each can be very potent, or inert. Each strain can produce genetics that can withstand cooler temperatures, or higher temperatures. This is what experienced growers mean when we say they're all the same. They're all the same because they're all different, even grow to grow from the same syringe.
This is why we chose to keep the strain discussion up here. It goes nowhere, but gets endlessly repeated. Have fun. RR

Why are PE and albino strain so drastically different, when all of the other dozens of strains are not? And why aren't there more oddball strains of p. cubensis?

I understand that a lot of strain threads are opened and this may be the only way to stop that. While it stops endless threads, it makes it really hard to find info and answers to specific questions. If you take the time to read through this entire thread a bunch of it is mumbo jumbo and you might find a little info on the strain you were thinking about. On pg two, theres some good info, but then again, its copied from a spore vendor web site. I would rather hear feedback from individuals rather than from spore vendors who endorse any strain to try to get some business. Seriously, if you read the descriptions on vendor sites, they build them up like every strain is the shit. Personally, I'm a fan of lots of threads on a forum. If I scroll through and don't like the title of something, I choose to not respond to it and stupid questions don't bother me a bit. In fact, it adds diversity and I like to be able to choose from many different topics to discuss. my two cents

Now that I'm done ranting about this thread and can't post anywhere else in loo of the thread being closed.
What strain should I request and why?

Ecuador because I liked it.
Not Puerto Rico because I couldn't get them to fruit, and I know I'm not the only one.

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to archive this whole thread and start a new one? RR

Sure, this is getting kinda stale. A new thread could break the cycles and introduce new ideas and info.

Just a suggestion, but you could start like three threads for each 1.North & South America 2.Europe & Asia 3.Africa & Australia +Miscellaneous Category
Or they could be divided into 1.Most Popular 2.Up and coming 3.Novelty strains +Miscellaneous Category
Or various other ways. I think any division would be beneficial.
