I used MRCA for my first lot a spores. The B+ was fine but the EQ syringe looked totally clear, couldn't see any spore at all. Out of 7 jars only showed any growth and that was in one area. I ordered from Sporeworks last time and their syringes look miles better, full of black clumps of spores. I'll stick with them from now on.

A couple of sellers on eBay seem to be selling them, asking £169-£189 (new - also saw a used one in nice condition for £100). So, fairly affordable.
They seem to be Chinese-made (though shipped from sellers in the UK), stainless steel, pressure/temp gauge, can run on electric power or on the hob (I think). 18L, seems like they go 20-23 psi (125C-129C) on electric power, and waiting to find out if that's adjustable, though you could presumably run it at lower pressure/temps on the hob.
Thoughts?
... So I bought one. I'll let you guys know how it works out. They're pretty affordable for being that big, and for being able to do higher pressures (might come in handy for grains I guess)

Can't tell from the ad, but from what I read in another ad I think it's probably the standard rubber consumable type.

Check it, I let my mate borrow it while i was on holiday and he shorted out the element by running it dry. I dont think ill be buying any electric sterilisers, probably.
 http://www.maniatattoosupplies.com/autoclaves.htm
Use the electric element to heat up the system but then use the hob to hold it at 15 PSI as the element will over heat it and create a shit load of dry steam.
On a separate but related note I have emailed a load of USA geezers bout AA products, specifically the sterilisers. Pretty much all of Sunday was spent trolling the net for UK distributors, which was an effort made worse by the fact that I couldnt track down any here or in Europe . Im waiting on replies. I even emailed Wisconsin aluminium foundry to ask if they had info on the matter. I looked for US wholesalers but didnt find many, all were emailed. Ive done a bit of research and we're looking at £290 cheapest inc shipping for a 25 quart non electric steriliser, this is the one Id go for and run it off a 1.2 kW hotplate, its an AA dream at the mo .

I bet if one of us were to import a dozen or two AAs, the bulk shipping would make it affordable, and I'm sure one could hawk them to UK members pretty easily (the ultimate bulk buy!). The eBay seller Base found once upon a time seems to have disappeared.
Just dreamin'...

I was thinking similar. If it so hard to find a European distributor, why not become one? You would make a shit load of money and the product will practically sell itself. Its not even a risk.

What about the paper trail, especially cross-borders and concealing delivery address etc precautions? PM if needs be (please), I'm a little unsure on best/safe methods

Ordered from sporeworks with a CC, myself. They send it as a proper microscopy kit (labeled as such on the customs declaration) with a glass microscope slide, etc. Perfectly legit.
Same with MRCA aside from the slide. They label things a bit less discretely IIRC.

I never order anything to my own address. Simple. I also think they'd bust the vendor before their customers.

Try the USA ebay site, if you ask I suspect a number of sellers will ship to the UK for much less than $290. Thats where I got mine.

Anyone know where I can order Iodine? I found some mixed with other stuff at Chemist Direct but I want it straight, for my US resevoir.
I'm intrigued by the idea of importing AA's.... I might send some emails, got some cash to invest. Anyone done legwork already and know who I'd need to contact to set up imports? Thoughts on how to sell them? E-bay or set up official distributor website? I know quite a few graphic/website designers. I like the idea of mine own site...

Found Iodine today, local pharmacy ordered it as I'd asked about it before. Went in to order some (only enquired last time) and there it was on the shelf. I think I am blessed with my local shops, managed to buy everything except jars from small businesses within a mile or two of home.
