You know what'd be good.. If there was a way for everyone to put money into a big pot (like all the UK shroomerites) controlled via a means of vote system and stuff bought in bulk could be equally distributed amongst the people. Almost like a bank, but under a trusted persons hands. It's a wild idea, but if it worked it would work so well. It would be greatly beneficial in many many ways. Don't ya think?

FractalXplora said: cookie how much postage on the 6kg?
Cost £18.45 in total. £5.95 shipping plus £2.05 VAT( I hate it when they add vat it at the end)
It cost more than I thought it would in the end, but it arrived the next day and should last me quite awhile.
I like to buy in bulk when ever posable and nearly went for the 25kg bag, but I'm running out os space to store all my stuff.
I nearly put a bid on that big electric autoclave that was on ebay the other day, the one in Liverpool. The other half spotted that I might bid and through a tizzy fit about where I would keep the bloody thing. I get moaned at because theres no were to keep the little hi-dome. It spends it time living on the hob.
You need a whole room to your self to dedicate to this hobby.

Talking of that, Wagtech sent me a quote inc shipping to London for their range of AAs.
14 L - £258 24 L - £278 39 L - £480
24 L, 1050 W heating element - £510 24 L, 1650 W - £606 39 L, 1650 W - £771
The optional stands are £47 and £54, the small is for 14 L and 24 L models.
Its on average £20 cheaper than most sellers in USA, straight away.
Then theres the sponsor. http://everythingmushrooms.com/shop/All-American-Pressure-Sterilizers-and-Electric-Steroclaves/
The cheapest shipping option (taking 6-20 days) ranges from £75-130. It works out cheaper than Wagtech but i dont know if you would have to pay tax. If you do have to pay VAT on it then it does become more expensive than Wagtech.

Yes anything coming into the UK over £18 (£40 if its a gift) would have VAT charged on it, plus customs (depending on TARIC code, used about 3.25%) over £135 All the details here: HMRC

Hes a dick though. he never lets me combine shipping on anything I buy from him. Even though it says that he will, "amalgamate" shipping. I been getting slant tubes from him... ans something else but I cant remember what it is off the top of my head

Here's the 10Kg I ordered for about the same price: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380248718776&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
It's small grains, so a little bit of grinding is required to get it optimal. A few seconds in the coffee grinder does it.
Here's 1.5Kg of powder shipped for £9.40: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200559646920&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Smashing up wall board is a ballache. I gave up that habit

Another score for the UK supplies thread - I picked up that new 18L army surplus PC on flea-Bay, so thanks for the heads up Base and the reccomendation Fractal!
If anyone else is looking for one I found and emailed these guys: http://www.tentsplus.co.uk/cook.htm and they emailed to say they have a few of the same 18L's for £45-£65 depending on condition.

Anyone? MRCA (sponsor) in Austria has 85mm ones at a fairly steep price, but I'd like to find 70mm ones - that I don't have to cut - at a better price . MycoSupply (sponsor) in the US has them but their international shipping rates are crazy. A kind member offered to re-mail them to me from the US, but it seems like there oughta be another source in the UK/EU.

Seen those on ebay too. Those should work just right I'd imagine. They'd be well worth the investment. Only 50p each

I've read that a lot of people are just using normal craft felt to make filter discs with good results.
I know it would be a pita cutting them all out, but that stuff is so cheap. I'm sure any one could cut out 100 in an evening and it would only cost a few quid.

Interesting. Never in a million years would I have thought to use felt. Never heard anyone mention it.
