Never tried something like that.  When sniping (which is every time) I just do it manually.  I keep one window open with my top bid ready to go, and another watching the countdown.  When it's less than 10sec I punch it in.  Seems to work 90% of the time unless my top bid is too low.

PS> also, my top bid is never a round number.  If I want say 150 pounds, I'll say 153.53 to beat others who bid roughly the same.

Not sure about giving Ebay logging in details to some untrusted site, can you vouch for this one?

Levington's organic farmyard manure is a great UK product. I used this when I was in the UK last winter. During the winter time in England good manure is practically impossible to find. This product needs to be fluffed up with coir or vermiculite however. On its own  mycelial growth is very slow because after hydration is becomes too thick.

Been quietly lurking this thread, some great links guys (made use of a couple:cool::cool::thumbup: )it can feel a bit lonely amongst our American friends when it comes to discussion of supplies :waits: the good shit oh so cheap and readily available to them lucky blighters.

Now I've no interest in indoor cultivation only what grows in the wild; but it just so happens the woodlovers can be encouraged so on a tangent slightly I feel supplies for the Woodlovers can be bulked in here  :uhoh:  :uhoh:  :hehehe:  :happyheart:

Tried and failed to get the legendary Happy Frog Organic Soil containing symbiotic Mycorrhizae to mix with chips.

However found 'Levington Cactus Compost' to go with chips (cactus compost in line with the Waylit teks)which I hope after adding Mycorrhizae to will come close the Happy Frog.

Don't know if this stuff could be of you guys with such tough sterility controls but would be interesting to know

As project progresses will add items that proved to be usual........ presuming there is success one Autumn....

As long as it's ok with you guys :uhoh::uhoh::mushroom2:

I used to do exactly the same thing. Got lazy and started using gixen now. Been using it for ever a year. Truly works. I also bought a member ship with them. It's only like 5 or 6 bucks a year so its what 3 pounds? Not much at all. Has a back up server, and you can change the time delay. The change comes in handy if you come up against other snipers. Usually pays for its self on the first bid and its member ship for a year.

Especially great if your busy when auction ends, or you just want that peace of mind.

Anybody have any thoughts or experience with these autoclave/sterilizers?:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260699653827

A couple of sellers on eBay seem to be selling them, asking Ā£169-Ā£189 (new - also saw a used one in nice condition for Ā£100).  So, fairly affordable.

They seem to be Chinese-made (though shipped from sellers in the UK), stainless steel, pressure/temp gauge, can run on electric power or on the hob (I think).  18L, seems like they go 20-23 psi (125C-129C) on electric power, and waiting to find out if that's adjustable, though you could presumably run it at lower pressure/temps on the hob.

Thoughts?

Hi guys, first time poster from the UK here.

First off apologies if this has been posted before - I did do a search around but couldn't find anything.

I'm planning a grow using a Mycobox as it looks much less work that the PF-Tek (happy to be corrected though).

My question is - is the Mycobox type technique compatible with the spores available from FSRE?  The images I've seen of Mycobox show a vial of spore solution which gets injected in - FSRE on the other hand seem to supply a spore folded in tin foil.

Any help gratefully received!

PF tek is not difficult nor very much work, but it's up to you.  You'll pay over the odds for a mycobox.

At the stage you're at - by the sound of it - you should use a spore syringe.  Print->syringe requires a glove box, good technique etc, as well as starting with a 'clean' print; you won't know you have a clean print from FSRE because they come from donations.

FSRE were running a 3cc spore syringe thing for a while - check the 'strains' page to see if it's still there.  Otherwise I'd suggest dropping a few quid on a pre-prepared syringe.

Thanks for the tip - I ended up at FSRE as there was a link on the first thread of this page.

Does anyone have any experience of magicplants.co.uk or growmagicmushrooms.co.uk?  Both come up on google as doing syringes.

Sporeworks or mrca are highly recommended. Sporeworks is from the us, but you can get shipping for $5. Buy one syringe for 18 bucks, tell them you are a shroomery member and they give you ANOTHER ONE FOR FREE.

So 2 syringes for 23$, thats less than 15 quid. Not too bad.

MRCA is in Austria. Not sure how their shipping works. best bet is to email them and ask what shipping will be. There are loads of other sponsors to choose from though, the choice is yours.

http://www.shroomery.org/sponsors.php

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Board/18

I'm sure andy already gave you those though. :super:

Welcome aboard. I personally would recommend the pf tek. Check out the RR videos link in my sig.

Watch all 4 vids for the pf tek, and have a read around his site. Building a still air box(aka a glove box or GB) for inoculating, and a shotgun fruiting chamber (sgfc or sg) are highly recommended.

http://www.fungifun.org/English/Pftek is helpful too. Most of us in the UK use glasses instead of jars since jars are expensive here.

If you need anything else supplies wise ask us in here. If you need anything else :pm: me or make a thread. :super:

I was looking at those the other week and it did seem tempting, but in the end I figured if I was going to spend over £100 on a PC I might as well save up the extra and get an AA.

You have the 'prestige high dome' like me, yes?  My gaskets don't last terribly long either; a few months tops.  Luckily they're cheap.  I just bought a couple to have 1 in reserve.

How do you know when the gasket is knackered?

My mum used the same one for about 16 years, that was a hi-dome she used it about twice a week.

The gasket is shot when it doesn't make a seal anymore. No matter how long you wait with the weight on and have it on high.

If its still working it'll make a seal :super:

I always liked mrca they usually have good multi-buy options, though sporeworks were good too. As the others said I'd avoid the mycobox and go straight to pf, it's really not diffucult, you don't even need a pressure cooker but I'd get one because you'll want it in a month or 2 anyway! Welcome aboard the good ship shroomery.
