I think this is a good read. Income/wealth distribution is probably the most important domestic political issue in democratic countries.

A small group of modern kings wants you to believe it's fair somehow for them to be so powerful. I'm here to say otherwise.

This article also speaks of a time when America made much more sense. That time is over. When that's well realized, we'll be halfway home.

Thank you very much for the most excellent link.

It is clear the author has what many in this forum would accuse of being a "liberal bias", and he spends FAR too much time going over and over the inflated CEO salaries of recent times, but overall the FACTS in the article are presented in a relatively even-handed manner, with enough references to the sources of statistics that they can be checked with a little effort.

I find it refreshing that he doesn't attempt to lay all the blame at either the feet of "greedy capitalists" or on government mismanagement alone, or even a combination of the two, but also brings in societal influence, the emergence of "superstar" technologies and the unrealistic level of stock valuation in the late Nineties.

All in all a very thoughtful, mostly well-balanced presentation. Despite his antipathy to wealthy CEOs, he tries very hard (and mostly succeeds) at keeping in check his own bias in order to present a mostly neutral analysis. Some (myself included) may argue SOME of his conclusions, but in my opinion this is one of the better editorials I have seen in recent years.

I recommend everyone who frequents this forum, be they Marxist or Capitalist; supporters of minimal government or supporters of maximum government, read this article. It is lengthy but well worth your time.

Once again, thanks for bringing this to our attention, carbonhoots.

I had to re-read that article just to make sure I wasn't missing something, because for once I agree with Pinky ...Thanks for the read!
