oh my gosh I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT. ive been trying to explain this to everyone around me for so long but no one ever seems to get it. it used to happen to me whenever i was very sick when i was younger, which wasnt very often. i can remember having dreams and hearing and feeling that way. it felt like i was so small or something. like, everything around me echoed and just totally surrounded me and it would make me feel a very different feeling than ive ever felt. im excited to know that you felt the same feeling! i knew there had to be someone

Yea! I wish I could get a recording of what it sounds like, its like...A muffled repeated sound, its hard to explain really!

But have you ever taken mushrooms?

I also heard terrence mckenna talking to me while tripping, in that same muffled, distorted tone as the alien noises..I forgot what he said, but it was a word repeated over and over...

If you take them Im convinced you will hear those noises that you did when you were sick as a child...I suggest you try em out...

Do you know anything else about the noises, are you just as much in the dark as I am?

Once I started hearing them on mushrooms I just became really interested..

no i have been curious my whole life though. sometimes, out of nowhere, when i used to take certain medicines i would feel it and i would type it in on google but i could never explain it well enough to get any results. im going to try and find something out about it right now

did you any sort of vibrations in your head?...idk how to describe,but like an feeling of energy in your head while the noise was happening?

Yeah mycofiend. I get the exact same noise, then zapping/pulses/charges in my head, then i'm out of body. i guess that is what breaking through on dmt is like?

maybe.. i looked on the internet for like ten minutes and i havent found anything relevant. a lot of people are connecting the feeling to religion and anxiety/health problems but i know that mine are caused by neither and im not even really sure if they are talking about the same thing. so i dont know what to look up

I just mentioned dmt because of the relation of dmt in its pure form and 4-ho-dmt that is found in psilocybes. I've also read many dmt trip reports and the spinning mandala or as terrence mckenna would desribe as a chrysanthemum,  seem to be very similarly related in terms of trip experience. Not including the intensity or time of tripping.

So yeah i wouldn't be surprised if breaking through while smoking dmt is an automatic OBE.

Next time you trip, eat more! I had an OBE without trying to from 3 grams in lemon juice.

It was kind of the point where i was drifting in and out of waking/dreaming states when it happened. It wasn't comfortable when it happened but after the initial pop it was amazing.

i wasnt trying to conciously do it either, i was just sitting there then i heard that noise and is was like "wtf is that"
then a couple seconds later it was like a blur and then im up in a tree
at that point i looked to see if i was sitting in the chair still
and i was...the shock of seeing myself sitting in the chair ended my OBE...crazy day

Yeah, sometimes mushroom OBEs come out of nowhere.  I once had an OBE while driving on 2.x grams(2.5 methinks) of cubensis.  It was a moderate trip and I felt completely in control until my consciousness was just sucked up to a point above the vehicle(well, what one could consider a close astral duplicate of the physical).  Fortunately, it was only a few seconds but I came back in the other lane facing an approaching car!  Needless to say I no longer drive under psychedelic influence!

As some in this thread have noted, inner sounds are frequently encountered prior to and during the exit of physical consciousness.  I notice a very sharp buzzing sensation seemingly stemming from the ajna region, back of head, or the top/back of the neck.  I'd equate it to a large fly buzzing within, but the sound also seems to possess an electrical quality if you allow me to be vague.  However, these sounds are also encountered in the pre-obe state without the use of substances.  Some might try to bring Dimitri into the picture but it is questionable that DMT is produced in the brain as theorized by Strassman. Anyway, as indicated in my first post, one is apt to perceive distinct inner sounds in the be-mushroomed state(icaros).

I've had the same thing several times; it's almost painful and metallic.

As far as the OP, I'd have to say that psilocybin is the most aurally strange drug I've ever taken. My first trip was spent in my bed in silence; Trains kept passing by down the street (about a half a mile or more) and spinning around in my head for ever, and the whole time there was various pitched "hummmmmmmmmm hommmmmmmbwaaaampwwaaammmmmmmmm hummmmmmmm" noises that I pictured in my head to be mushrooms made of something the consistancy of mud (...basically the ones in the liner notes of eminem's slim shady lp :-X)

My second trip was completely controlled by the music I listened to at the time; I lived the lyrics/emotion of the beat out as I listened

Another time I was in the bathroom for a long time and I heard what sounded kind of like a Noise/Drone improv session with really weird tunnel/flanger effected ambient electrocuted-air-conditioner noise and loud clanking and rhythmic repeating echoes

Another time I put in ear plugs and an eye mask just planning on going to sleep because I only ate a little bit and I got tired, and an hour later I came to and realized I was still conscious and awake and had myself been creating the incomprehensibly complex harpsichord/harp music I had been/was currently listening to and watching in a field of velvet red and electric/gummy-glitter pink/violent, which eventually morphed into the most maximized un-real impossible-to-recreate Happy Hardcore techno


I have odd aural hallucinations on all drugs (often thinking I heard inanimate things talk, or electro/zippy/tribal/psytrance/munchkin/robot/angel noises
but mushrooms seem to do it the most for me so far
