Alright, I am new to this board so I want to get to know you all a little. What religion are you? If you dont practice a particular religion right now, then what religion would you say believes as you do?

Im not a particular religion, but right now Im a Panentheist thinker. I believe that God is a part of us and we're a part of God.  Now how about you?

There is only one Religion. It just has a lot of sub-categories.

Only if you redefine the word... There seem to me to be a great number of distinctions between the various belief systems and their moral codes.

There was no attempt made to redefine the word.

Please see Websters definition #1:
Religion
1
: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices

My personal belief system is my Religion. This system includes elements from various schools of thought and institutions. It is not wise to limit one's spiritual potential to a ridged set of rules a practices.

You are correct is stating that there are various religious systems and that there are distinctions between them.

Some would argue that the Catholic Church is the merger of Judaism and The Roman Religion, but in becoming merged, the religion is now separate from either of them and both at the same time. Inclusive/Exclusive of select practices.

The term "Omnism" was expressed earlier in this thread, that term could serve as example of what I am referring to.

So it would not be a contradiction to state that there are many religions and one religion at the same time. In a similar context, there are many Gods, and one God at the same time.

My religion is the tree and it's branches but not the branches by themselves.

When did you convert to Atheism?

I don't really consider it converting, but when i was nine they gave a talk at the temple about Job and it struck me how cruel God would have to be to know Satan was going to greatly harm one of your most fervent followers but refusing to stop it so you can prove some bet?

And then the insulting exclamation point to that story, that God gave him back his sons and daughters twofold once he had proven his faith (again and again)? Like you can ever replace losing seven sons and daughters and a wife.

They could never adequately explain why it's OK to worship someone that allows that to happen.

Or that when Elijah the prophet was being made fun of by LITERAL CHILDREN for being bald, God sent a fucking She-Bear to kill them for it.

Or when Moses asked God in Numbers "um do we really need to kill women and children" and God responds "lol I told you not to let one unpure drop of blood in my midst so you are to commit wholesale genocide on the midianites and only keep the young Virgin girls so you can fuck them and indoctrinate them into judaism."

So I noped out of that religion. Then I went on a spiritual quest - Islam, Mormons, jehovahs witness, Sikhism, Buddhism... you name it I sampled it. But it turns out they were all inadequate to answering the real mysteries of life.

So eventually I landed on Science, because time and time again it has proven the only surefire method of pushing back the darkness in the limits of our knowledge. Time and time again it hypothesized, tests over and over, and discovers ever more amazing facts about our universe. Quantum Mechanics makes your iPhone work, is pivotal to nano technology. Astrophysics has broadened our horizon forever.

As Carl Sagan once said in his pale blue dot speech, we are all of us as far as we know alone. And this is the only home we have ever known or ever will know. It is incumbent to live in reality and be cognizant of the dangers growing to our planets future.  And religion simply wants me to believe the real reward comes after.  Too irresponsible for me.

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences with the various types of programming that you have mentioned.

When I asked you when you converted to Atheism it was because I wanted to see if you would implicitly mention Science as the replacement belief system or basis of understanding which is solely material in nature. "Science" as a belief system is something that could be considered indirectly by some in mystical circles as a religion that worships Shekhina. In which the ultimate source of truth is derived from the earth itself and the spirits therein which are manifest in it. But this may be correctly defined as the worship of Science, and not solely based on the attributes of Atheism alone since Atheism is not a belief system and could rather be defined as the lack thereof.

One who worships(gives authority to) the earth and the material world and rejects ethereal knowledge thus relying on insight primarily obtained by observing the Malchut. Since you have a background in Hebrew studies and tradition I find it appropriate to discuss this in such a way.

Since some believe that the Malchut is the manifestation of the Gods themselves in the Asiyyah, many will worship this lower image of the Gods unknowingly. In this way Binah corresponds with the divine feminine aspect reflected in Malchut, in which understanding is received from the seat of the Asiyyah.

YHVH is not a God which is worshiped by the fathers of my people, so I will make no assumption as to the nature of the God of your people(by your maternal line)  besides the literary accounts available.

In no way are my words intended to marginalize your perspective or your beliefs. Since the definition of Atheism is the lack of belief in gods, I will respect that definition even though the existence of Atheism could be debated in an objective sense.

I am very thankful that you are open to discussing this in depth and I appreciate your perspective and any input you might have.

My religion is fuck the police, because I'm very religious about that.

So, would it be correct to say that your religion is nothing more than the way that you feel?
