You haven't verified it in practice. You're still speculating. Mushroom species growing from mycelium will also stop bearing if the culture is too old.

I have gotten primordia from sclerotia,
I have not gotten primordia from mycelium
that’s all the verification I need

Primordia is not enough. You need ripe fruit to verify.

I’m done with this conversation, it’s my strongest opinion that you don’t know exactly what you’re talking about here bud

You’re saying pins are not enough to verify if a culture has senescence
That doesn’t make sense

Pins that have an abortion definitely do not confirm the culturure fertility. A fully developed fetus is always needed. Do you have a reasonable reason why you just don't use the new culture? You're wasting energy on a culture that can be barren. Absolutely unnecessary risk. That does not make sense.

Please ask a trusted cultivator before you spread false information, a pin is an immature fruit body, if it’s able to develop pins then the culture has not senescence, my pins aborted because I didn’t have proper humidity not because of “barren” cultures anyways this is getting annoying and you are derailing the thread

I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just saying that this can be one of the factors of failure and that it is a completely unnecessary risk. So I would rather start with a fresh culture and not underestimate anything. I have experienced that other types of mushrooms stop producing if the cultures are too old. They also make pins, but then lose them. They are unable to mature.

I’ve worked a lot with cordyceps militaris which is notorious for senescence, if if gets too old it wont pin at all,

You’re right I never disagreed you shouldn’t start with a fresh specimen, I’m saying if it produces stones then it will produce fruit

Unfortunately your going to have a very hard time getting a fresh verified blushing morel specimen vs ordering cultures

How about starting with literally anything first and then once you have more experience with growing morels then try getting fresh genetics

Have you ever grown morel mycelium before? What’s your experience with them ?

I have experience with M. Conica, Esculenta and Americana. I also produced sclerotia. I was not successful with fruiting. Then I focused on another field.

I do not have. It was in 2016. Everything is long gone.

I don’t believe conica or Americana have been successfully cultivated indoors, I think it’s still limited to landscape morels like rufobrunea, importuna and possibly esculenta but I believe there’s a lot of misidentification and false claims so it’s hard to sort through

They worked very well in combination with various plants. For example, the M. Americana culture was found in the middle of a wheat field. When inoculated on wheat plants, it enveloped their roots with very strong sclerotia. Eventually, he filled the entire vessel with sclerotia. Unfortunately, due to the non-sterility of the environment, there has always always been some contamination. I think The Danish Morel Project at Black Morel uses a similar method. I just don't know how it prevents contamination. He probably uses various symbiotic microbes and small creatures for this, which is impossible for a layman.

Pretty sure it’s just an inert blend of soils like sand, clay, vermiculite etc with a ph buffer to keep microbes in balance, I’ve worked with this a bit myself and have been able to eliminate certain contamination like bacillus

And yes I have a tray of morels going currently with sprouted millet

What were your temperatures?

Those temps are way too high for anything other then rufobrunea
And it actually sounds like you just took that from owers patent instead
I’m running my current batch at 50f-60f

That’s about the temperature I got pins from last time

17-23°C it was a temperature for sclerotia.

Sclerotia will form at 38f and up, I can verify this, I put a liquid culture in the fridge a week after it was made , there was no sclerotia, about 4 months later and the whole thing was sclerotia

These are morchella angusticeps sclerotia from liquid culture at 38f for 4 months in the fridge

I had it in my room on the windowsill because of those plants.
