I do have a microscope šŸ”¬ with a fancy camera attachment but I lost the ac/dc power supply adapter for the camera but I can see what I can do,

I’m not sure how this is useful though? The culture came from a trusted vendor who has already vetted it and proven it was in fact morchella angusticeps

I have no doubt that it is morchella angusticeps. You couldn't determine that anyway. Your provider is definitely top.

I just wanted to see what fertile mycelium looks like. Maybe you can see cell nuclei and where they are. you could compare pictures (...with DreamStoneLFOD...)  and see if there are any differences. something like that ...

So had something interesting happen, I’ve been looking at it for a while because it looked interesting so today I just poured my pda lc through a mesh screen and upon further inspection I discovered my lc created strange anomalies that resemble morel mushroom caps invitro

so I decided to case it for shits and giggles hopefully something pops up

So is that just sclerotia grown in liquid? Did you happen to taste any of the anomalies?

Not going to lie I really wanted to cook one of them to see what it tasted like, imho it looks like they tried to form caps in the lc

I think I might have just found a critical piece of information that will crack this wide open and it’s funny because I wasn’t even researching morels it was for another species in the ascomycetes phylum give me about 90-120 days for results if it works then it solidifies my assumptions and all my previous research and experiments

I hope you are right! Good luck, and if you get any more anomalies, cook 'em!

How long did it take for them to form? I need to get a good culture, but I will definitely eat one of those secret treats when I get a good Morel LC going!

Make some more so that you can feast on those things!

I can send you some lc, I have 4 different strains of morels

Morchella angusticeps
Morchella esculenta
Morchella importuna
Morchella rufobrunea

Just let me know what you’re interested in

The ones that made those wicked stones and lc blobs are from the morchella angusticeps culture not sure if I acquired it from the mycelium emporium or sporeworks I think it was the first though

Hello everyone! I’ve been watching the progress of this thread and it’s amazing to see what’s it’s grown into after all the years since I’ve started this thread.  I haven’t had a chance to pursue this endeavor in quite a few years. But and starting to get back into it. I recently came across a group of people in Denmark who have seemingly perfected this indoor cultivation to the point that they are claiming commercial applicable results. Has anybody read into this at all? It’s called the danish morel project. They are using an undisclosed black morel variant. Seems like Elata or Conica from what I gather. But it’s exciting to say the least. They are very careful about not letting slip any trade secrets but I feel there has to be some clues in their information.

Re: morel cultivation thread [Re: metalhead]

Just figured something out, so other morels require cold stratification for 3-4 months before induction to pinning via 55f temps and hydrating

But those types of morels only fruit in spring thus the need for stratification (cold dormancy)

But the rufobrunea strain is often found through out the year in warmer climates like Mexico, Israel Australia  etc etc  it’s often known as the fall/winter morel because it fruits when temperatures drop between 50-70f and it fruits in fall because it doesn’t require cold dormancy

So Dr Owers patent is absolutely dependent on the rufobruneas ability to fruit without the dormancy period

Other strains such as elata, importuna, esculenta etc etc are strictly spring fruiters suggesting they require stratification prior to induction

Hopefully this points you guys in the right direction

Also for the record I want to say the danish morel project either had the same idea as me or took my idea from my previous work making a 2-3 inch deep mason jar of nutrients (C/N sources) in a way that the whole food source becomes a solid sclerotia

Theirs:
