I inoculated a rye grass seed/potting soil substrate with morel mycelium 4 days ago.
This is a pic of today.
The mycelium is running through the jar like I have never seen with other species.

Whatever you do, don't shake that jar! Was that an isolated strain? My morel mycelium seems to suck after the first sector. It slowly loses vigor and then stops growing. I don't understand...

On the first transfer on agar there are small knots forming.
Stamets says that this ability often wanishes after few transfers.

hmm, my mycelium went from stringy to cottony/slow growing on the first transfer. I don't smell bacteria, but it could be present, seeing how the mycelium usually outcompetes contaminants.
I had "microsclerotia" form about five weeks later from the agar plates with multispore germination. Some vigorous, striny pieces of mycelium grew up the walls, so I used that to start a liquid culture. The liquid culture grew very fast and vigorous, but when I innoculated rye berries, it grew a little bit and then completely stopped. Any ideas? Also, I did have some rye berry extract in the liquid culture medium.
