What to do with morel spawn?

I'm finally ready for the next step; Amanita [scotland] was kind enough to trade me for a culture, though I don't know which species s/he hooked me up with. Last week, I managed to successfully clone a wild black morel from the day's foray. Both of these are now nice and clean on birdseed, but I'd like some advice on how to go about planting these outdoors. Pine and fir are easily obtainable, most of my morels were found in deep pine needle mulch. I'm looking for a good 'bulk' substrate, I could go to sawdust spawn first, but it would be easier to just broadcast and mix the birdseed outdoors [basically bury it]. I've never had a problem with rats and birds messing with the seed. Anyone have anecdotes on backyard successes? Thanks;

Hi, you should try and plant the spawn as soon as possible since it doesn't keep for long. Probably the best location would be a bonfire site, or perhaps you could make a bed of charcoal and woodchps. The species I collected is Morchella esculenta. Good luck!

Yeah, thanks guys! Great link Anno, you are the link master! I've read the patent before, and seen the photos of Morel Mountain. . .I still think those dudes are harvesting wild morels and sticking them in a kitty litter pan :) Thanks for the tip on using the spawn quickly, that's good to know. And it's great also to know, Amanita, that this is a different species than the black morel. Oh, we gunna have fun next year!! People are trying to convince me to create little morel kits, as this area is very conducive to morel growth. I imagine oven bags with colonized substrate, and a little pamphlet on the life cycle and recommended bedding. Could be cool....
