You shouldn't. If you produce something bad its a learning experience and if the current fundamentalist view of god serves as an example, its not bad do be a ruthless god. If you produce something good, hu-fucking-ray!

I guess it all depends on your cause.

The price to gain the knowledge required, on animals the environment?

Whether it is an issue of squeamishness, to seemingly defy "nature".

Is it that we endow ourselves with undeserved power?

There are many lines one can cross.

But is it really playing "God?"

IMO technology is the ultimate expression of "Godhood" that presently exists on the face of the Earth. God is nothing but perfected technology. The dichotomy is created by cultural misunderstanding - the confusion that arises between idealism and reality.

what are the boundaries of nature?
is one thing nature & another not just because a human made it?
i dont think so, imo theres no separation between you & 'god' which means theres no wrong step you can take, can you be unatural if you try?

skyscrapers, wars, money, cars, computers, i consider all of them 'natural'

but i do wonder ocassionally is GM our future or will the slate be wiped clean...

If we make poor decisions as to the utilization of technology, it is still within the realm of our humanity. "Playing God" is an odd phrase, anyway. How would one "Play God," if one believed that God existed? Wouldn't the natural limitations imposed upon us by said God preclude such play?

The unique qualities of our personal perceptions of "God", is like putting "IMO" before everything you type. They both go with out saying really.

Many things said with any personal opinion, are also biased.

You exercise your own bias, by responding in the manner that you did.
