We are...what we are?
    #8435073 -

The past week I feel like somehow I've opened up to experiencing human life with such fullness. I've felt at peace. I've felt calm and completely "here." I feel like I am experiencing the strangeness and wonder of the human experience...

...basically I feel even though I am calm and at peace, I've gotten such clarity that my perception of life has intensified, greatly. I suddenly find myself in an alien landscape, with a sense of outrageous disbelief that I, that WE, all dwell here, that we are, what we are.

I feel so completely imbued with the awareness of PEOPLE, what they are (what are we)? It seems SURREAL, that is the word I am looking for. Everywhere I look, seems like a fable, a play on my imagination; every human being I encounter seems like an alien species, seems SOOO UNUSUAL, so UNIQUE, so...STRANGE, yes *strange* and bizarre, that I find myself in a state of high alert, totally tripped out that we humans are...

...what we are.

It just seems hard to believe sometimes, that I am 'HERE...'

...that I am writing all this, that I have the capacity to.

I can't even describe the feelings that sweep over me, but basically:

"It's hard to believe that I'm alive. It seems like there is something...SOMETHING..."

...something STRANGE about all of this that I am experiencing. I can only go by my own subjective experience of reality, but right now, I am sooo TUNED INTO the utter strangeness of the human condition...

It just seems so bizarre...

..."to be alive."

It just feels...the 'is-ness,' of BEING, I feel it sooo completely these days.

Can anyone relate? I probably cannot describe what I have been experiencing very well. It's hard to put into language.

I've been completely sober (except for 1 lsd trip a few weeks ago) for 2 months now, by the way.

Within the past two weeks, I feel like my experience of human reality has opened up and helped me see what unusual creatures we really are...

...yet we are still only 'creatures...'

Hard to explain. I feel as though I am experiencing life more fully - LIFE - I AM LIFE. The consciousness of life itself is manifesting through ME. It's strange, but wondrous. What is LIFE?

Oh well...comments welcome.

Wow. That's completely crazy, I felt exactly the same way a couple of weeks ago.

It's dulled a bit now, but I still feel this wonderment at how we EXIST. And how amazing and weird that is, and I don't even know. I can't put it into words. I spent a few days doing nothing but lying in a field staring at the sky and thinking about humans and how totally bizarre we are. And yet, I have a sense of peace and well being and....dare I say it...hope?

yeah, but once you realize the possibilities, might you start to see how people constrain themselves with their own boundaries and maybe society?

sometimes it's like waking up

anyways, do something unexpected. :bouncysmoke:

EDIT: To MOTH

It's about TIME!

Seriously though, I feel ya on that.  The only difference is that when I notice the "is-ness" of everything, I get stuck in a "where did all of this come from, even the IDEA of nothing IS something" thought loop.  :foreheadslap:

Absolutely I can relate!

This is what life is all about, IMO.  That 'is-ness' you describe.  The subtle and beautiful stillness behind every moment.

And it cannot really be described.  Understanding of that quality is beyond thought, and therefore beyond words.  This is why some people will think you are a wishy-washy flake for talking like that; because it doesn't make sense to the mind.

Cultivate awareness of that quality in every moment, especially the undesirable ones!  Even crappy situations will be as beautiful as the  most poignant film if you can maintain presence.

Don't get wrapped up in unnecessary thoughts; compulsive thinking is what obscures that precious nameless quality.  Once you get too wrapped up in thought, you can no longer see it.

Moth

I find joy in your post - though i would have you remember that your mental projections are at the helm of this.

try to remind yourself of this when you begin to feel yourself settling into that reality, because your joy comes from that mental projection, so be weary when you experience the thought that you have FOUND yourself in this experience.

In retrospect you have not found yourself in it, because it has manifest from a thoughtful reason; it being that we are...what we are.

Its like experience a new sensation, like jumping from on pool of experience to another, except this time you have a thought which brings forth awareness of what it takes to jump in the best pool available.

Keep splashing, keep playing - the journey has not begun, but it will never end.

--------------------
The mind is a creative tool. It searches to protect you, through message sensations(feelings). It is no different than a computer, you need to make sure its anti-virus program is in check and that it doesnt have a script that limits your experience, because of to much precaution.

And remember the computer does not appear to respond to words of anger and frustration - just give it input, in the form of new meanings that you know to be true and its messages to you and the limits it lays out for you, will change.

Guilt is an outcome of believing you are the cause of the problems.

Yet, we are not a cause to something, we see is negative or bad - Unless you believe your intentions are directed towards a bad outcome....

It did occur to me recently that we are very strange looking beings, and very simple too - our knowledge and culture dresses us up beyond our actual standing in the evolutionary model.

We're quite 'cute', humble, and our egos and illusion of 'evil' only make us cuter.

I had a shroom trip two days ago that put everything I wrote here into perspective.

Just total insanity - we humans.

Projection, yes, but still - wow.

I can relate with what you are saying.

Existence is quite ridiculous in a sense. But it is what it is. Lately I have had some of these same conceptual ideas going through my mind, of course some people can relate.

To relate this to mushrooms, I find them to be quite an interesting and visceral way to experience this concept. I suppose it is related to ego loss. "Intense wonder" is a way to put it, mushrooms force in me to think about how alien existence can be.

No doubt, we have to go with the flow, I am not a nihilist really, but there are times when existence is shattering. However, I cannot help but feel like a "baby" sometimes, I mean I live a comfortable life in rich America, so I am not trying to sound too dreadful. One can be happy and reflect on this stuff. Anyway, this concept makes me think of Nausea by Sartre, its a decent book... but one of the main points of the book is that the main character has times of regarding all existence around him as nauseating in a sense, its just so brute to really reconcile physical existence sometimes. Anyone know what I mean?

Last trip I got into a part of the loup in my mind around the peak when I starting to be so confused as to what a human was, what a mushroom was... where I was. It is like there is a human aspect that is conditioned, this seemed like a projection of the essential human curiousity, as if our rational abilities are predicated by this intense curiosity with surroundings, its so interesting to feel that play our with some of the "filters" altered in a sense. Also, I think confusion is a pretty basic part of the psyche when memory functions and normal filters are disintegrated by psychedelics. That part of consciousness is scary but wonderful... its the main area I am confused about a true dualism of mind and body. I am not sure yet about the whole astral projection or separation of mind and body. But contemplation like these seemed to imply (perhaps insufficiently from a logical point of view) that part of the mind wants/has the ability to rip itself from the body.

It is as if there is a part of the human consciousness that is essentially undefined or something, like perhaps what an infant develops past through maturation or something.

Anyway, there is no doubt  theories consciousness and phenomenology are amazing things to study and think about.

Anyway, good topic   :sun:
