Re: France opens secret UFO files covering 50 years [Re: WONKA]
    #6720379 -

I hope France will be an example of the worldwide cover up to be revealed. This cover up makes total sense, of course and after the cold war, borders also about this subject are about to crumble. Alone the fact that there were many things intentionally hidden from the population is a scandal and forces people to investigate even harder.
There are astonishing videos on youtube and google and it seems that even the american conspiracy can't hide the facts for very much longer.
I'm on a short holiday right now and watched almost all of the tons of google-videos with 'ufo' in it. About 10% is really worth the time watching. Maybe I'll make a quick 'shopping list'
Things are clearing up.

> As I've already stated that statement came from a professor not the person who wrote the arguement. (sic)

And I was very clear in my statement: "The knucklehead being whoever wrote the report" meaning the 'professor' or whoever...

> I would generally expect a professor to have more knowledge than some random knucklehead (you seuss)

Be careful on the flaming.  That is a no-no here.  Unfortunately, I have met many professors that shouldn't be teaching elementary school, let alone higher education.  I am certainly no expert on UFOs or aviation, but I know my basic high school physics, and I know that anybody that makes a claim of "infinite acceleration" based upon radar has zero grasp of physics, professor or not.

> As I also already said 'suggests an infinate (sic) acceleration'.

So is it you or the professor that is claiming infinite acceleration?  Make up your mind.  Either way, it doesn't matter if it is "suggested" or or not... the words "infinite acceleration" are meaningless when used together the same way that the words "infinitely small" are meaningless when used together.  Just as something cannot be infinitely small, something cannot "have" infinite acceleration.  I can't even construct a correct sentence using the that phrase... "We infinitely accelerated an object"... what in the world does that mean?  Nothing! It is nonsense.

>  SO other than pointing out a technicality of wording

The technicality of the wording is my point.  Ask yourself why a person with no understanding of basic physics has to use scientific sounding words to try and convince people that they are correct.  To the layperson, "infinite acceleration" sounds impressive, much more so than "it moved really fast", however, it is very misleading and completely inaccurate.

> I don't see why people have such an emotional investment in these issues.

Personally, I get upset (a failing, I know) when I see people incorrectly use science to try and sound as if they know what they are talking about to add weight to their arguments.  Had the "professor" used wording such as "it moved ten times faster than the jets chasing it" or "it moved really fast" or "it moved faster than anything we have ever measured in the lab" or any other halfway decent description, then I wouldn't have a problem... but "infinite acceleration" tells me that the person has no grasp of science, yet is trying to pretend otherwise.  This is fraud, and I take it personally.  :frown:

Apologies, I have trouble with this.

I had a close encounter when I was younger and have spent most my life having anybody I did tell laugh at me. I've become quite resentful of people not open-minded to the posability of its reality.

I feel very alone because theres very few people that understand. I'm trying to make people understand. I know I shouldn't really care - what does it matter? It just seems that it was made my mission - to show other people that some of the unknown/paranormal does exist.

Have the people that write this garbage ever taken a basic, intoductory, elementary physics class... "infinite acceleration"

(how, exactly, does one measure "infinite acceleration")

An instant change in direction while maintaining a constant velocity IS a change in acceleration, and a very high one.  Accelerations is composed of two magnitudes.  While the UFO's speed did not change, it's angular velocity did change.  I agree that to call it infinite is silly, but pointing out absurdities in a man's vocabulary hardly subtracts from the validity of the objective evidence.

Or 'infinite acceleration' simply means, literally 'jumping' from one velocity to another one, in an instant (infinite short time ).
That seems possible for 'massless' 'objects'.

To the contrary, had the instance been described as you presented it, I would have no problem.  Instead, somebody tried to sound like a scientific expert.  This is misleading, and causes me to question everything from this person (again, whoever wrote the report).  If they lie once, through their supposed mastery of physics, then why should I believe anything that they say?

> literally 'jumping' from one velocity to another one

I'm guessing that is what the person was trying to imply... but given the wavelength of radar, one cannot measure absolutely, thus again the claim of 'infinite acceleration' based upon radar measurements is ludicrous.

> I've become quite resentful of people not open-minded to the posability (sic) of its reality.

Please don't take my comments as a statement of belief towards you, UFOs, or anything else related.  I do not doubt your experiences, nor do I laugh at you.

My one and only gripe is with people that are non-scientists pretending to be scientists by using scientific words to convince other non-scientists that they know more than they really do or to add weight to their observations.  I view this sort of behavior as fraud.  If people want me to believe what they say, then they need to present the facts of what was seen rather than making up BS trying to sound like an expert.

A good example, just because somebody sees a floating ghost does not mean that the ghost is massless.  If that person describes the ghost as massless, rather than floating, then I immediately toss everything that person says into the trash.  Not because I don't believe that they saw a ghost, but because they are inflating the description of what they saw with non-objective beliefs.

> That seems possible for 'massless' 'objects'.

... and how, exactly, are microwaves (used in radar) going to be reflected by 'massless' 'objects'.

Thats a fair enough statement. I know exactly what your talking about - it annoys me too!

Although I must confess that I myself have in my younger years been known to exaggerate a story but I realized as you say, that not being completely honest will lead people to disregard everything you say. The boy who cried wolf lol!

Some of the radar tape taken from the F-16s was sent to the Centre for the Study of Electronic Warfare and was examined by the eminent Professor Emile Schweicher. In Professor Schweicher's opinion the UFO could manoeuvre in a manner that is not possible according to our laws of mechanics and it was capable of sudden changes of velocity implying it had "infinite acceleration", which again is not possible. In the professor's own words:
"I think extraterrestrial intelligence is very highly likely".

Hank, I'm afraid I cannot answer that.

I'd be quicker to believe it was a triangular shaped jet with some sort of radar scrambling equipment. :tinfoil:

What wud it be doing hovering over Belgium?

Jets are incapable of the maneuvers this craft performed.

There's tons of high res photos and home video - check it out.

Why would you prefer to believe it was a jet? Can you not take it for what it was - a UFO. Thats not to say its E.T. But on the weight of available evidence it appears likely as the technology was so advanced from known craft.

If it was a high tech craft - why wud it be hovering over a Belgium city? Bizarre.
